Yeh, something with decoding would be a real game changer. They could just release the firmware and I am sure the community would take care of implementing a few interesting features.
I am getting another pocket cheapo from minidso.com soon, their newly released DS212. I don't think it has any decoding built-in but it does have 2 channels and they seem to be very open-source friendly on most products. Maybe something can be done there ...

I've always been intrigued by them, but distrustful. Heck, I'm never _entirely_ sure I should trust my DS-1054z. But I'm sure I will pick up a cheapo when the right sub-$100 abomination comes around, even if only to keep in the portable toolbox and avoid pulling the bigger scope off the bench. It's too much to hope for, but the first Chinese manufacturer with a sub-$100 portable micro-scope that has a user-replaceable battery and basic CAN bus decoding support will have a hit on their hands.

My internet has been down for two days so I have been unable to post witty commentary.

Patreon only just sent out the notification email (to me). Will this be a standalone review or in combination with a project like the EKG?
