Well, they are both very different from the modern boxes, that's for sure. They are just sort of strange. It's hard to explain but it's almost a sort of generative experience to use them. It's like you are collaborating with them. I think I would prefer to keep monomachine over the MD because with MnM what you see is what you get. Where as with MD you always have the option to load your own samples which is kind of a pain IMO. I almost find the option Distracting if that makes sense. I also really like the signal routing of the MnM, it feels very modular. But gosh, MD's ability to record via trigger and Control All tracks are completely bonkers. The main reason you may consider MD first, is because they are a bit cheaper to get a hold of. If you like MD you'll most likely really like MnM. If you don't like MD, you probably won't like MnM. So it's a good way to test the waters. I think the main thing for me is making sure you are interested working a different way. I wouldnt say you should get one based on how they sound.
