An update between updates

Hello!

I got some news for you.

Firstly, the new trinket set is decided and it is the Plague Doctor! Let's go practice medicine.

Secondly, I tried some new ideas during the holidays, and you can see the result in the title picture for this post. That's right, it's an edit of an enemy's attack!

As all heroes can have only one "got hit" sprite for all attacks, I thought that it would be cool to add "a reaction" as a part of a monster's attack sprite instead.

Feel free to download the attached sprite and check it in the game yourselves (just replace the file in \Darkest Dungeon\monsters\brigand_cutthroat\anim). The easiest way to see it in action is in the very first fight in the tutorial section of a new game. I'm still on the fence about if it worth developing further, so your feedback will be very appreciated.

Thanks! As for pirating, let's just say I never seen it uploaded anywhere.

You do so well without spine software im surprised you didn't have it. Can you pirate it?

It's ok, I'm so starved for comments that I will take even the doubles : ) It's maybe not a "huge" task (unlike a full monster redesign), but definitely not a simple one. For example, if I go with it, it'll definitely will take an update slot to make replacements for one monster. So it can take a while to populate a full dungeon set, and it will increase the delay between trinket sets.

It is about 300 bucks for the complete version (so called "professional" version). At least according to this: https://esotericsoftware.com/spine-purchase

pretty neat, but I'm assuming doing this for a meaningful amount of enemies would be a huge task? my bad if this comment shows up twice but I edited the first one for punctuation and it disappeared ...

How much is a spine software?

Hi and welcome! Thanks for sharing! I am too still not sure - probably will finish this enemy attacks and see how people will react before going further. As for replacements, I already made some for backgrounds (well, this whole thing started from that), but as for full-fledged replacements for monsters... For this I would need a Spine software which is not only quite expensive, but also should be an outdated version to work with the game. So currently I do what is possbile with just a graphics editor and some elbow grease.

It is interesting for sure but id say I am on the fence for whether the majority of people would like this sort of thing. Great idea though, is it possible you could develop lewd replacements of creatures for the darkest dungeon or backgrounds perhaps? New patreon btw so no bully pls
