September is going to be a quiet month with just 1 paid release
Hey everyone. Here we are again at the beginning of another month :-)
City map - Frostburg
For September, I am aiming to draw one city map for you as a regular release. It will be a map of 'Frostburg' a city of about 10,000 which is nestled in the bottom of a narrow river valley (sketch is in the post-header above). Style will be similar-ish to Owl's Crossing.
There will be only the one main release because I need a bit of extra time to work on some commissions again this month. As much as I love making maps of interesting places for you all, commissions are still my bread & butter at the moment, so, when I have some on the go, I need to give them focus and time.
Bonus Maps
There will also be a couple of 'bonus' maps too. probably little settlement maps again,
Probably underground/underdark ones....
last year, when I started doing the bonus maps, I was drawing about 8 a month..... but I was also putting out 3-4 regular paid releases along with them.
This year, I have been aiming for 2-3 'bonus' maps per regular release.
So this month there will be 2-3 of them :-)
August's bonus maps (5), both the free free versions, and the extended set for Explorers should be out in the next few days...
Toss me location ideas for Southport - October's 1st map
I don't yet know how many maps will happen in October... but at a minimum there will be one, Southport, based on a sketch I found in among some old sketches a couple of months back. I must have dreamed it up around 2013 ... I have been itching to bring it to life :-)
There are 3 main settled areas.
Bottom left is what I am thinking of as the 'Mage Enclave' - with some smugglers routes through the cliff to ocean side caverns.
Top right is a cliff-top fortress, with a larger town within the walls.
At the river mouth, down in the canyon is a fishing village and port
The circle just above The fishing village is a ruined tower in a dense bit of forest.
There are 3 cliff-top watchtowers and also the coastal walls.
There probably should be a mill somewhere along the river too...
Apart from those locations, I am open to ideas...
So, you have a month to toss ideas for any interesting locations my way...
Places you would like to see in this settlement-region when you visit it in the future!
If I can find them a spot, they will be there.

Until next time, happy plotting
