Here it is, the first 21 pages of my comic RUBBLE OF THE LOTUS. It is a comic I've been trying to conceptualize and start making for over 10 years now, and is the synthesis of the ideas I've been coming up with through my illustrations, but now being carried through into a story.
My intention is to keep this comic going perpetually. That probably won't mean that its the central project I work on, it might be put aside from time to time as I work on other comics, but I've been thinking about this one for so long that ideally I'd like to keep it going over my lifetime.
It'll be in black and white with halftones, for patreon exclusively I'll be releasing the uncropped inks, which is what you see here.
My plan is to put in the halftones then release it publicly in small chunks whenever enough story gets built up that reading it is satisfying in one sitting, which I imagine to be every 10 to 20 pages or so. However for patreon after this point I plan on releasing it here page by page as they get done.
I'm also debating whether or not to start using the pen-name Thaumas, both because I'm a little tired of sharing a name with the famous cartoonist, and also I like the idea of using that name as means of being more uninhibited with my art, that working under that name could be a sort of dedication to making work that isn't concerned with being "commercially viable" but rather as dedicated to making work that is authentically imaginative, bizarre, and potentially transgressive.
But, I'll decide all that before I start releasing this comic publicly.
