Thinking back on the season 1 finale, Steven was able to walk out of his jail cell because the destabilisation field didn't affect his organic body, it just seemed to affect his gem half. So I think if yellow had shot at them, Connie would be fine. It's Steven I'm not totally sure about. You cannot fathom the rage people felt at Escapism when it aired lmao people were rioting like "the plot was getting so heavy and you're giving us FILLER? ON THE SECOND TO LAST EPISODE???". Personally, I don't consider Escapism to be filler since it did serve a plot purpose. I think of it like the breath before the plunge, if that makes sense?

These episodes where Steven is dressed up in fancy clothes by "mice," goes to a ball, and is locked in a tower was called by the creators "the princess gauntlet." Just a fun fact. I remember when these aired folks were pretty irritated to have a whole episode just for the watermelon Stevens when time was so precious, but going back and rewatching, it is nice to have a bit of a breather before everything ramps up
