4D Miner Development Poll

Hello HyperSupporters!

I am currently in the process of setting up an Early Access version of 4D Miner on Steam, which I will distribute to each of you as soon as I can. It will take several days for everything to be approved by Valve, but if all goes well, I will be able to provide you all with early updates to 4D Miner, allowing you to be the first to give feedback on any changes to the game!

In the meantime, I have decided to make a poll for HyperSupporters to decide what I will add to the game next!

I disagree, lighting improves everything, lighting would make a passive mob more alive, or a plain landscape more alive...

Samuel Loy

Having the spiders not animating quite that quick would be a good option to have, but I wonder how new lighting/shader mode might 'soften' the flickering effect

Samuel Loy

the game already has an option to change difficulty, and the easiest "difficulty" turns off spiders

Marco Brunacci

I don't really care about controller (mainly because I don't own one) but I think that having a peaceful mode for people to play around and maybe an accessible mode to stop the maybe epileptic spiders from flashing that much?

DarlesChickens

Yeah, as long as we eventually get all of these it's fine.

Connor

I reckon a passive mob would make the game feel more alive rather than improved lighting but thats just me lol

sebastian knox

Better lighting would be great but I feel like a passi e mob would be like game changing, figuratively and literally.

TommyBoyio

Maybe some ambient occlusion would help to ease the sense of existential dread I get while playing this game by making the environment look a bit more natural. Strafing and movement in general should also be a priority imo.

Nicolò Brigadoi Calamari

and to be clear I don't think the others are any less important, I just think the movement is the key to making a game feel good. If you could, similar physics to games like minecraft would probably be the way to go as its familiar and it just works

Maro

I'd rather have updates to the movement system to be honest, making a games movement right is the best thing to do initially, then worry about things such as lighting, optimizations, and UI

Maro

It would be great if you could hold a button down and rotate using mouse movement. Since it's a 3D rotation.

Connor

i'd suggest a lighting system thats not too posh

Scarm

That would be absolutely amazing

EepyGirlLava

There is already 2 discord channels. One for regular supporters and hypersupporters, and one just for hypersupporters.

Anton.exe

I think so far my favorite suggestion was this one: Make a block that the player can stand on, and it rotates them automatically to a certain rotation. Used to help players get around their own structures, or point themselves at a destination, or even synchronize their rotation with another player. But it gets better: IF there were a sort of "adventure mode" like Minecraft has, where you can't rotate yourself, there could be these blocks which rotate you, and we could make puzzles out of it.

Connor

Will there be a discord channel open only to supporters?

Connor

Please improve the lighting first. Someone put it really well in the discord: adding lighting before a bunch of new features means that instead of going back and making sure every existing feature works with the lighting engine, lighting can be included in how future features get added

Marco Brunacci

I feel like lighting would be more of a core feature then another passive mob. Would make the entire world look even better, as well as keeping it optimized.

Bandit930

I’m torn between both Lighting and A new Passive creature but I’d rather go with the creature.

Optimal

Only supports controllers. That has to be done with the mouse's own software or dev implemented bindings.

dstayton

improved lighting would be nice

CanonInDsharp

A passive mob could totally add some extra crafting possibilities!!!

Doktor Fluuf

How do you use steam bindings? All I want to do is to reconfigure the controls to more comfortably support left handed mouse

Samuel Loy

Passive mobs would be a huge addition since there are already hostile mobs, love the work you are doing, keep up the good work!!

Ats

Controller support can take a total backseat for a while because Steam bindings can cover that for now. The worlds need some life to them first and then I think you can focus on them looking nicer.

dstayton

Can I make an impassioned plea for more sound effects? Footsteps, block breaking, item pickup; they all help

William Bundy

Keep up the great work!
