HERE IT IS guys.
A Patreon exclusive look at the Official Trailer for Journey Across Japan: Escape to Paradise!
The excitement, the glamour, the pain, it’s all there.
When this trailer is released publicly in two weeks, it’ll likely be a bit more refined, but I’m delighted with how it’s turned out. AND YES. I did buy the rights to Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood especially for the trailer. No regrets.
As for the release date it’ll likely be the last week of May and there’ll be three episodes, each around 30 minutes long, meaning there’ll be less episodes than the last JAJ, but the individual episodes will be longer in length than ever before.
And of course, each episode will have a big dedicated Patreon exclusive behind the scenes episode featuring bloopers, outtakes and deleted scenes.
But before watching the trailer, scroll down and be sure to read the final diary entries for the trip!

DAY 6
I’d been looking forward to exploring Ishigaki, but on our first day on the island Joey surprised me with an activity to help me “get over my fear of flying” after last year’s failure over Sakurajima volcano in a Cessna.
Parasailing wasn’t something I’d ever been that interested in doing, but initially I was kind of excited at the idea of being suspended behind a boat a few meters over the water.
That was until the first group of people went up and I discovered the parasail didn’t go up just a few meters. It went up 200 METERS HIGH. Aka. The height of a bloody skyscraper.
As our parachute went up with Joey and I dangling beneath, I started to panic realising the only thing stopping me slamming into the sea was a rather tacky looking piece of fabric.
For 20 minutes Joey and I flailed in the air as I grew increasingly into a nervous wreck. It was the longest 20 minutes of my life as the wind blew us around in the air and I eyed up the rope praying it wouldn’t snap.
After surviving the parasail, we drove to the other side of the island to a secretive cove home to a place known only as the “blue cave”. Presumably because it was fairly blue.
But within the cave we went snorkelling and diving and found fish and crabs along the way, which felt like much needed stress relief after the parasailing.
We also undertook two bizarre challenges on this day, which I won’t spoil for now, but see if you can guess what it was from this horrifying below image.

DAY 7
The day we’d long fear has arrived.
Ryotaro joins us for the day on Journey Across Japan.
Finally after all these years, Ryotaro and Natsuki appear in the same video.
With the recent relaunching of the epic 80’s gameshow Takeshi’s castle, Ryotaro declared he wanted to recreate the challenges at sea. It turned out he’d booked us a private boat with some challenges to undertake.

Natsuki and I teamed up against the tyrannical Ryotaro and Joey and battled it out in the sea, to see which team would win.
The hardest round involved some kind of torture device, which strapped to your feet and shot out water at high speed causing you to hover. It sounds like fun, but it was unimaginably difficult trying to control high speed jet hoses with your feet.

Next up, we had to see who could hold on to a board the longest as it was dragged through the sea at high speed on a jet ski. I was looking forward to this and Natsuki and I both did really well.
So well in fact, that the guy decided to push Natsuki and I to our limits.
As he accelerated to maximum speed he swung the jet ski around causing us to lose grip of our float and smash into the water.

The moment I hit the water I knew something was wrong. I felt incredibly dizzy and my right ear felt like a knife had been stuffed into it.
We thought I had some water trapped in my ear but it turned out I’d actually burst my eardrum from the pressure of the water slamming into my ear.
The last day of the trip was spent in incomprehensible agony and at a clinic having various things poked down my ear, with one small saving grace being an epic, long-awaited sword fight showdown featuring Natsuki and Ryotaro on a secluded beach.

All in all, it was a seriously action packed week in Okinawa and Ishigaki and though I’m still nursing my ear back to health, I have no regrets about our trip. It’s going to be a lot of fun to relieve when the serious comes out later this month!
Now enjoy the trailer!
