Hey guys!
Great news - we're now accepting submissions for challenges on the upcoming series of Journey Across Japan! Send us your crazy ideas: https://www.abroadinjapan.com/jaj4
My advice is to try and think of something specific to Okinawa and the setting and Ian (our Producer) is more likely to pick it out and place it into Anpanman on the day.
With final preparations under way I'm feeling rather restless this week given that lots of things could go wrong. From one of the team falling ill, to a storm raging through south Japan, I don't think I'll feel relieved until I'm there on the islands rolling around in the sand like a Porpoise.
In other news this week, Ryotaro finally made his debut on the Abroad in Japan Podcast after 4 years.
He's featured in two episodes so far, which were both pretty fun to record. From revealing why Japanese people agree with Will Smith slapping Chris Rock, to explaining his 12 must see places in Japan, there's plenty to learn!

Now on the subject of the Abroad in Japan Podcast, one of the biggest criticisms that's been levelled at us over the years is how poorly advertised it is. Or to put it more simply "OI MATE WHY ISN'T THE PODCAST ON YOUTUBE?!"
There's a few reasons but fundamentally because Pete and I are a world apart while recording that's been the main hurdle. The focus has been on uploading consistently rather than trying to adapt it for Youtube and honestly, simply uploading the audio to the platform would be to sell the podcast short.
But recently we've been exploring another option.
- ANIMATING the Podcast!
It's still a work in progress but it's actually turned out far better than I'd ever imagined and I'm looking forward to sharing the first video with you in the next week.
However, if all goes well, we'll be uploading 5-8 minute long highlights each week on to Youtube and if it proves popular, potentially longer episodes, more frequently.
Can't wait to share it with you all next week!

I'm also delighted that last week's video on "Why NOT to Teach in Japan" surpassed all expectations and is on track for one million views.
It's been a fantastic boost for Pete as he leaves teaching behind for the world of online entertainment, but now that he's a free man, I'm hoping we can go on more trips together later this year!
But in case you missed it, be sure to give it a watch and hear the horrors of teaching.

And finally, later this week we have two videos out!
One is an epic Wacky Weekend through the snow and the other is a tour inside a stunning traditional inn over on Chris Abroad, both with Connor and both a lot of fun.

All in all, tons to look forward to in April guys.
But first things first, don't forget to send us your challenges! https://www.abroadinjapan.com/jaj4
See you in the week 🍻
