So, back when we had the big reveal of the Abroad in Japan studio a few months back, I'd planned to dedicate a section of the video to the amazing set design team that built and painstakingly fitted the studio over an absurdly intense three days of hell.
I had a good friend film the whole thing on my behalf, as I was away filming at the time.
AND THEN, I did something I've surprisingly never done before.
- I lost the memory card.
Disappointed and furious, ever since I'd always wondered what the team had endured and HOW they'd manage to turn an empty space into a vibrant retro Japanese street.
But yesterday afternoon, to my utter delight, I found the memory card tucked down the back of a cupboard along with all of the long lost footage!
With that in mind guys, here it is after all this time - better late than never eh.

Chris I work on big Hollywood sets and I congratulate you for this amazing set. The art department did an amazing job. Did you work closely with the production designer or did you give them "carte blanche" with some basic parameters? Anyway, amazing. Do you have a small smoke machine to make atmospheric smoke? I saw that you have some elements with fake smoke to make the kitchen look more authentic. I think you would benefit from a small atmospheric smoke machine. Directors of Photography often request it in locations. It gives a really nice image. Special effects departments have them. Anyway, BRAVO maestro. Well executed. Brilliant result.

2022-03-18 14:08:08 +0000 UTCit is a bit like saying, "why do you buy yourself an expensive (whatever) when millions are starving around the world?" yes, there are literally billions of people who need my money more than me, or more than Chris. do you consider this at every decision when you buy something? of course not. it's really hard to live like that. that said, I spend my money on things that are important to me, on people that I have some kind of connection to. Chris is one of these people (even if only as an "entertainer"), and I'd be glad to support him with some extra funds after a disaster like this. could I support starving children in Africa instead? of course. you could too. do you?

2022-03-17 20:30:55 +0000 UTCPatreon brings in minimum 7195x$2 (before fees), probably half of those are $5 so maybe around $25,000/m, perhaps we could all donate to an earthquake charity instead would be the best use of funds, I'm sure there are people affected much worse who need it much more. (no offence intended to the AiJ team, I'm sure it was terrifying, and I think everyone can agree we're all glad everyone is okay.)
