A few days ago - here on Patreon - I shared my experience of the recent gigantic earthquake with you all.
What I failed to tell you was that I was already having a bad day, because that fateful afternoon, for the first time ever in 14 years of driving, I RAN OUT OF FUEL. And not just anywhere. I was in the absolute middle of nowhere in the mountains of Hokkaido.
What an absolute moron.
Rather than recant the story here in text, you can laugh at my expense and hear me describe the nightmare - and how I got out of it all - on this week’s Abroad in Japan Podcast episode.
To be fair, incredible stress aside, it was utterly ridiculous and undeniably amusing.

This week also marks the 3 YEAR milestone of the Abroad in Japan Podcast, with Pete and I now having recorded 190 episodes and NEVER missing a single week in those 3 years.
It's surreal for me, as I was reluctant to do the Podcast for many years (in the same way I sneered at the idea of buying a drone originally), but Pete persuaded me that we could pull it off without it getting in the way of the Abroad in Japan channel.
And being able to record while travelling on the go around Japan has made that possible over the years.
But we have a fantastic backlog of episodes and interviews, all of which you can find here, with new episodes every SUNDAY & WEDNESDAY!

ALSO this weekend on Saturday to celebrate hitting 2m subscribers, 3 years of the Podcast and surviving my road trip despite running out of fuel, I’ll be holding the first LIVE show of the year on the Abroad Perspective channel.
I’ll post the link on here tomorrow morning, but it’ll be held at 22:00 JST and likely last 90 minutes. I hope you can make it!
Have yourself a great Friday!
Chris
P.S. Here’s a sneak peek of the upcoming Kyoto episode which is out in the next few days.
