Journey Across Japan: Patreon Diary (DAY 4)
As Joey and I were leaving the ryokan this morning, on our long drive from Gifu to Lake Kawaguchi, from behind the trees on a long stretch of road, a gigantic pyramid suddenly emerged.
At first I thought it was a mirage - a delusion - from being on the road for four days straight but it turned out be a genuine real pyramid.
We decided we had to open the video there, given how absurd it all was. And as I stayed outside to present the opening, Joey ran into the catacombs - the gigantic maze - beneath the pyramid.
However the maze was so damn big, that it took me 20 minutes to find him and a subsequent 20 minutes to find our way out.
And so the quick ridiculous opening we'd hoped for, ended up taking an hour to film and by the time we hit the road again, the rain from the typhoon made the drive anything but fun.
Today's challenge was to stay in some unusual accommodation; and we came up with two candidates; a love hotel with a cage or a capsule hotel inside a shipping container.
Suffice it to say, after the first day of our trip, I never want to set foot in a love hotel again, so we went for the latter option.
We were both pretty delighted to discover we had our choice of 10 capsules to choose from!
Though Joey seemed more taken with the hammock that came with the place.
All in all, it was a more relaxed day as we waited out the storm in our shipping container capsule hotel, after a day spent driving in the rain and a morning spent being lost inside the catacombs of a pyramid!
Not your average day in Japan eh.
Tomorrow is our first potential glance at Mount Fuji; the weather was so bad today we could barely see the front of our car, let alone a mountain! Wish us luck.

You have a great view of lake Kawaguchi and (if visible) Mt. Fuji. Also there are these weird statues of a story about a rabbit torturing a tanuki?
