Staying at a Traditional Japanese Inn with Natsuki

Another shrine I love is Hidagokoku shrine in Takayama. It is so beautiful with the bridge and cherry trees. I was totally in love, when we discovered it!

2021-05-21 18:54:18 +0000 UTCKencho-ji is so stunning! And yes, there are a lot of steps. I went there at the end of March and it was very warm. I remembered that on the last steps a young boy came down and greeted me with a happy "Konnichiwa!" and I was like: Yeah, just a few more steps and I made it! After him his grandparents walked downstairs and just smiled at me. It was a funny situation and the temple is very beautiful :)

After seeing Hase-dera and Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gu, I noticed on my little map another temple nearby. Behind the temple there's a path which leads to a LOT of steps up to a shrine. This was February, and the place was deserted, except for a lone monk who greeted me and seemed surprised that anybody had found this particular shrine! 🤣 Just a fantastic memory!

It looks far more ancient/historic and something from the Heian period than the other temples now surrounded by housing. Are these shrines that weren't burned down and reconstructed?
