So it’s that exciting time of month where I have an excuse to get out of bed at 7am - yes, it’s time for Ask Abroad live, this Sunday 22nd March at 07:30am Japan time.
(For folks in Europe and the US this’ll mean Saturday afternoon/evening).
We certainly have no shortage of things to discuss this month; above all I'm keen to hear how you've been affected by the virus in daily life or your travels to Japan.
For just over an hour I'll be answering your questions, giving travel advice, regaling how I spent half this week in bed with food poisoning and discussing the month's events over at least one cup of coffee; possibly more.
I may also shed some light on my plan to make a new documentary with Natsuki later this year!

For video ideas (though maybe not until you can go to a bar again) - shochu (or shouchuu or however. Wikipedia tells me it's this in actual Japanese: 焼酎). As far as I know, it's unique to Japan, and I have yet to see a single Japan vlogger even mention it. It's quite a strong drink on its own, but makes fantastic mixed drinks. I'd really love to learn more about it.

I strongly urge you to ignore the haters, and do what you think will make a great video. I also enjoyed your Trip Across Japan. I haven't watched all your videos, so correct me if you've already done these. In our trips to Japan, my favorite places were the Fushimi Inari Shrine and Nikko.

2020-03-22 22:23:50 +0000 UTCI missed this and I'm so disappointed 😭😭 Got confused by the date & time. I was looking forward to a live discussion, and some words of wisdom from Chris. I work in the film industry that had to shut down completely due to the virus, so all my work for the foreseeable future has been cancelled. No source of income, and as a freelancer the government packages don't include me. I'm sure Chris would've been able to put things into perspective or make me laugh at myself.

I want to hear about what it is like for Japanese people to work from home. I use to work for a Japanese company and it would have been impossible for anyone in Tokyo to work from home.
