How to Find Your Motivation vs. Amateur Vlogger Mistakes: Which video would you rather watch? | Patreon Exclusive
Added 2020-02-19 08:30:07 +0000 UTCHey guys,
I hope you're all having a great week so far and you enjoyed our recent outing to the Haunted Inn in the latest video. (Although to be fair, the real horror was surely Ryotaro's face).
Unsurprisingly, given the terrifyingly apocalyptic headlines about the Coronavirus, I've been receiving a truck load of messages and questions about it in the past few weeks. And so in tomorrow's Patreon vlog I'll discuss the ongoing situation in Japan and the actual effect it's had (which admittedly, has been significant).
I'll also be talking about Japanese hotel chains that I recommend and don't recommend and sharing with you the clip of a throughly delighted Pete Donaldson receiving his long awaited "Certified Japanophile" certificate. All that in Saturday's Patreon vlog!
BUT before that, I need you to CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE with the BELOW POLL and decide which Patreon Exclusive video you'd rather watch next week. In case you missed it last month, I'm currently releasing my entire series from the TC Learn platform here on Abroad in Japan Patreon as bonus content, given that the platform never fully launched and many great educational videos I worked on have been sitting locked away in a room until now.
Last month we had "Understanding the Japanese Mindset" (watch it here) and this month you can choose between the following:
- Amateur Mistakes Vloggers Make When Starting Youtube
Vloggers typically make the same common mistakes when starting a channel; I cover what they are and how to get around them. Ideal if you're looking to start a Youtube channel some day and quickly grow a brand.
- How to Find Your Motivation in the Long Term
At the the age of 18 I was shy, aimless, unmotivated and fairly pessimistic about my future. Yet somehow in a three year period I randomly moved to Japan, started a Youtube channel and reinvented myself after finding a sense of motivation. In this video I discuss how motivation is a lot easier to find if we think long term.
The video you choose on the poll will be available to watch here on Wednesday 26th February.
Looking forward to seeing what you decide on (and if this poll feature actually works, given it's my first time to use it).
And keep an eye out for the Patreon vlog on Saturday!
Chris

2020-02-21 03:14:53 +0000 UTCLol at the amount of people actually voting for the third option. Goes to show that as long as there's an option for it, there will be someone voting for it. Anyway, I voted for Option 1.

2020-02-20 15:21:20 +0000 UTCLoads of creators made content for it then Tokyo Creative under went management changes and they didn’t do anything with all the slickly produced educational videos. But luckily I negotiated with them to get mine back and now I’m sharing them here on Patreon!

2020-02-20 06:59:09 +0000 UTCSorry mate, the third option is too good to be not clicked.. So I'm clicking it !!
2020-02-20 00:50:15 +0000 UTCWow that’s a tough choice. I want to see both!

2020-02-19 19:58:33 +0000 UTCLate to the game, what happened to TC learn?
2020-02-19 18:47:52 +0000 UTCEven though I find the 3rd option really amusing, I won't waste my vote :D
2020-02-19 15:57:00 +0000 UTCOption 2, though I did watch it back TC Learn (and still have access it seems!!) I think it's a great video! Plus having it on YouTube rather than the platform they used is much much MUCH better.

2020-02-19 15:39:52 +0000 UTCTruthfully, the third option should be the "Surprise Me!" option. So really, choosing an option, regardless of its content is not a waste at all. I'm a simple individual. I see Abroad in Japan videos, I drop everything, like it and watch it.
2020-02-19 15:03:08 +0000 UTCGood, because option 3 was so hilarious I had a brain malfunction and clicked it.

2020-02-19 13:12:49 +0000 UTCHah, you can vote for more than one option. No vote wasted!

2020-02-19 12:39:07 +0000 UTCI really enjoyed the "Understanding the Japanese Mindset" video. I was thinking about subscribing at the time, so I'm glad we're getting to see them all now! Looking forward to seeing this this week's VLOG.

2020-02-19 11:22:49 +0000 UTCAs someone who's been a fan of yours for 2+ years and just got into YouTube myself (I have a retro gaming channel, original concept I know) I'd definitely be up for more "YouTuber how to" type videos. Your focus on high production values and amazing dry British humour has been a big inspiration for me and something I aspire to. I'm not quite there yet but I'm happy with how things are progressing so far.

2020-02-19 09:26:07 +0000 UTCI really loved the latest video! It was interesting and really really fun to watch! I always enjoy watching you and Ryotaro together and Quinlan fit right in with you guys and it was great! The drone shots at the coastline were just breathtaking! But I was curious about the hand carved tunnel.... why...? Why does it exist? Is it just something that was made in recent years to create easy access to some of the more secluded bits of the coastline or is it something that was made many many years ago by fishermen or whatnot? Does someone know? Will I ever know? Does it even matter? So many questions! I'm actually really excited to hear your opinion on some of the Japanese hotel chains. I once stayed at an APA hotel and was surprised that they charge more for the rooms if the hotel if full on the day you book your room and less if they have a lot of rooms available. Never seen that before but I guess it makes sense. And it was great for me because there were little to no people the day i booked my room. The day I extended my stay with two more days the hotel had more guests so I had to pay more for those days. Is this common in japan and other countries? By the way they had a vending machine with strong zero in the hallway and that was how I first tried it 😋 Also I'm looking forward to see Pete finally getting his official certificate! Have a great day!

2020-02-19 09:21:57 +0000 UTCI think you inspire a lot of people to take the path less traveled and follow their dreams. Better than a safe but mindless, soul-crushing office job crunching out fucking reports all day😩
2020-02-19 09:10:41 +0000 UTCI voted for the motivation video, but I'd like it known I choose option 3 in spirit!
