Tokyo Airbnb Tour | Secret Projects | 3 Year Patreon Anniversary | PATREON VLOG

It's a Patreon vlog!
What have we got coming out this month? How has Patreon helped the Abroad in Japan channel? And where am I staying? All the answers lie within the vlog!

Watch: https://youtu.be/BvZ8T7SfHIw

I hope you're all having a great weekend guys - just a quick note, as I mentioned in the vlog, if you have a question or a message for Natsuki, please write away in the comments below!

Natsuki has been feeling a bit down this year that we've not been able to collaborate or hang out as much as we'd have liked (due to the backlog of Journey Across Japan mainly).

I share his sentiments and I'm planning to rectify his absence this month and next by spending a fair bit of time with him and producing new videos together throughout September and October.

But any kind words you might have for him will definitely go down well. He always appreciates support from viewers a great deal. Write away below, and you can watch him react to your words next week :)

I've packed a lot into the vlog, so I won't drag it out any longer here, but I just wanted to say a huge thanks to you all for supporting the Abroad in Japan channel, as we reach our 3 year Patreon anniversary, and for making the 90 episodes we've released in that time possible (and that figure doesn't even include the dozens of Patreon vlogs/behind the scenes videos on here!).

This channel continues to go from strength to strength, and in terms of videos in 2019, the best is still yet to come (hopefully you'll agree with me after seeing some of the lineup in this week's Patreon vlog).

Have yourself a great weekend everyone!
Chris

Another question for Natsuki, is he considering stoptober?

Natsuki! I'm stoked to hear you'll be gracing the AiJ channel with your presence once again. Any video that you're in typically has me bursting with laughter, or puts a permanent smile on my face throughout the video. You have such a unique and eclectic personality. Never a dull moment when you're on screen! I know you have many dreams for the future, so I hope you keep persisting and never give up on anything that you do. Perseverance and determination are key! Anyone can have talent, but persistence is what sets people apart. As for my questions: Do you have any favorite books? Also, if you could play a part in any movie, what would it be and why?

Will do! Should be sometime in October!

Abroad in Japan

Always nice to see Natsuki on screen! Looking forward to it! Here's a question for him: What is your favourite event/celebration in Japan?

Natsuki natsukashii desu! :-) Great to hear that he's back soon! Loved the jelly sake drone ryokan video as a little Natsuki comeback.

If I ever make it to Sakata will you cut my hair Natsuki?

Chris, when it becomes available, will you let your Patreon members know which AIRBNB that was?

David Miller

I'm really excited about the documentaries and look forward to seeing them! You're working so hard to make amazing quality videos Chris and it really shows! I really admire your hard work and it makes me so happy to hear you say that we help you to have more freedom to do the stuff you do. ~Jette I've got a couple of questions for Natsuki. Question 1. What is your favourite thing about Chris and what is your favourite thing about yourself (self love is important). Also please say hello to your wife Asami. She seems like such a sweet person and I want her to know she has fans too ๐Ÿ˜Š I would love to see her in "Natsuki the movie 2: Natsuki's Kin'en(็ฆ็…™) Adventures" / "The Kin'en Chronicles" which brings me to my second question.. Question 2. What do you like to do to relax and de-stress? You have to think of new things you can do to de-stress instead of smoking if you are going to try smoking less. I'm so happy to see you again and I can't wait to see more videos with you! Lots of Natsuki and Asami fan love from Jette(ใ‚คใ‚จใƒ‡) from Denmark

Natsuki was one of the reasons I fell in love with this channel. I think we've all missed him lately and can't wait to see more videos with him!

Hi Chris, super looking forward to the upcoming documentary videos, and to any future videos with Natsuki. I'm so happy for you that you have this Patreon community, and that it's been giving you the freedom to explore more of your dreams and creativity. Rooting for you for all your future projects and adventures. :) And my greetings to Natsuki as well. :) Natsuki, other than English, are there any other languages that you'd like to study? Or are there any other instruments that you would like to learn how to play?

Rainstorm Travel

Nothing but positive vibes for Natsuki, hope you feel much better soon and looking forward for more Natsuki videos! As always guys, great work and content.

Dear Natsuki, Whatโ€™s it like having to put up with an insane Brit for hours, even *days*, at a time? Does it require a *lot* of alcohol just to keep yourself together? Since Iโ€™m an American, I would like to know what are your three favorite American bands/musical artists and what are your three top American movies? Since you are a musician (with a side hustle as a hair salon owner) Iโ€™d love to know what you think of the two reigning American chart queens - Cardi B and Billie Eilish. I would truly enjoy it if yโ€™all filmed the part where you and Chris were forced to listen to each of their bodies of work played VERY LOUDLY. (full disclosure - I am into BE). And Natsuki - *every* video you do with Chris will always be LIKE A MAGIC for all of us!!

Hi Natsuki ๐Ÿจ I'm not too sure what to say, just that your presence makes me very happy and I hope your year starts to look up. Lots of love, all the way from Australia.

Natsuki!!!! How do you feel when fans of yours come into your beauty salon and get hair cuts? I think that would be awesome for fans but how do you feel about it?

Rob Biberhofer

Chris I'm in Tokyo at the moment , love the pod casts. But how do you cope with this heat and humidity, only yesterday was it semi bearable. As a Welsh man here in Japan I'm used to walking around in the rain not sweating my bo****s off.

Can you please buy another coffee with my Patreon money? I feel like that would be good use :) - really great update Chris, glad to support and looking forward to watch the docs! I probably follow no more than 5 Youtubers who can tell a story and your journey has been fantastic. Keep it up! 2M Subs next! (never quantity over quality... but still would be amazing!)

I'm really excited to see the Fukushima doc, Chris. I heard about it on your podcast and it sounded really interesting (I loved the tsunami doc, too). Camera work looks really slick, too (as well on the music doc, too). Really like how your camera and editing skills continue to get better and better.

Michael Moore

Dear Natsuki, what are your top 3 Japanese band recommendation and if you had the freedom to create any kind of video what would it be about?

Natsuki, have you ever thought about opening a salon in Tokyo?

Natsuki, what do you think of baked beans on toast?

JDawg

Your videos have always been the best part of my week whenever they pop up! I am so glad to be a part of this Patreon community to help you grow and continue your way with your passions! Also, question for Natsuki! Natsuki, in Arizona there is a place where you can go down a natural water slide! Would you want to check it out? (It's called Slide Rock State Park, it's really amazing!) But also, if you were to visit the U.S., where are your top three destinations?

Natsuki! Would you ever want to come to Los Angeles?! You could visit some legendary rock clubs, and even visit the gravesite of Joey Ramone of the Ramones (If you liked their music!). Movie stars too! Where else in the world would you like to visit?

Michael P.

you should read the actual page from harry potter in your next patreon vlog.

It's update videos like these were you make me so happy that I put money toward your Patreon! I love that you feel that we have given you freedom to invest time in your workโ€”and I applaud you for always taking the time to articulate your gratitude and explain your future plans to everyone involved. While I originally put money your way as a thank you for helping me demystify Japan, I came to love and look forward to the weekly podcast, and more advanced storytelling and documentaries. Seriously looking forward to the full-length features on their way, and anything else you put your mind to :)

Shannon Sweetser

Let Natsuki know that he's amazing! All the videos he is end turn out extra fantastic. Definitely glad we're going to see more of him. Natsuki rocks!

Dusty B

Your documentaries are my favorite type of content - as much as I love wacky travel videos. It won't be as funny or shocking... But I think from a filmmaking perspective there's definitely something special about watching a full-length experience and still thinking about it an hour later.

Riz

Great to see the channel doing so well. I think I've been watching since the 1st or second video. 1.4 million subs... That's like 7 Glastonbury's attendance....maybe hold a festival in 2020 to rival the Olympics. Really looking forward to the upcoming content. Crazy to think your early videos were about being angered by a bird outside your apartment now your doing documentaries with rock stars.

Dave Morrison

Natsuki, if you could make a supergroup of your favourite musicians who would they be? Mine would be GACKT on Vocals, Miyavi and Mana on guitars, Yoshiki on drums and yu-ki (from Malice Mizer) on bass. Thank you both for the amazing work you do on this channel and congratulations on 3 years on patreon!! When I move to Tokyo next year I'll buy you both a drink to celebrate (or some fried Chicken) ^_^

Chris Hunter

Really looking forward to that Fukushima Documentary, I really love getting insight to places like Fukushima and Chernobyl, and seeing this place almost like it was frozen in time, asides from the damage taken, I find it very fascinating to see Mother Nature essentially beginning to reclaim all of this land. Asides from that, being able to see those who were brave enough to return to the place they once called home are also extremely interesting, for their stories, their connections to this place and finally what they are doing to live in that place. Simply being able to see the old buildings still standing, old parks, old roads and looking and thinking what happened those days when the disasters happened. Good to see you've got plenty of content lined up, especially their scale. As for Natsuki, really looking forward to seeing him again, you can't have one of the staples of the channel just missing now can you? I do have a question for Natsuki, I would like to know if he has any places in the world he absolutely does not want to visit (or revisit). He seems like he wants to go all over the world, so I am a little curious to see if he has any places he might not like, for any reason (whether he's been before and had bad experiences, or a different reason.) Great stuff as usual, really looking forward to everything!

CertifiedPersona

Been apart of this for a while now but I still can't figure out how to join the discord. What do I do?

Jesper Forsberg

Great to hear Chris! And can't wait to see more Natsuki back as a staple of the channel! Hope all is well and will be looking forward to all the new projects!
