Hey guys,
I hope you’ve all had a great week so far.
So today I come before you with something a bit different; yesterday Pete and I sat down to record three Abroad in Japan Podcast episodes in London, and on a whim I decided to film it (and mix it with the podcast audio recording) to give you a peek behind the scenes to see how they’re made.
Listeners often request that we film some of the Podcasts and upload them online, because for reasons beyond my comprehension, people want to stare at our faces for 50 minutes. And in fact, during the recording of this week’s podcast, I do appear as though I’ve just tumbled out of a broom cupboard.
Nevertheless, I make every effort to bend to the will of the people, so consider this something of a pilot for potentially filming future podcasts - your thoughts on it will help us decide if it’s worth filming future episodes and sticking our faces on Youtube.
But whether or not you plan to just listen to it, or watch the Podcast segment, the first 10 minutes of the Patreon Vlog do include a Q&A with Pete, answering questions you guys have sent in, so be sure to check it out.

We also released another podcast just today, where Pete and I discussed Kim Kardashian and her attempts to hijack the word “Kimono” for her clothing empire. If you haven’t listened yet, you can find the link below.

Later this week I’ll be meeting my friend Chiaki, who you may recall from the “How to Date Japanese Girls” video, to produce some sort of a sequel - I’m currently thinking of doing a simple Q&A with her to break into the psyche of a real life Japanese girl and I’ve got about three days to work out some sort of grand plan.
We’ll also be releasing a video early next week where Ryotaro and I bumble around the Tokyo Station area in search of 10 things to do.
Before then though, we’ll see the release of the final episode of Journey Across Japan over the weekend - FINALLY the never-ending series will truly come to an end, and the shackles will once and for all come off, so I can get back to making regular videos.
I will be following it up with an epilogue video, discussing the weight I lost (or didn’t lose), how the trip affected me mentally, physically and perhaps even spiritually, as well as revealing if I regret the whole thing or not.
Looking back on it all, I did shoot myself in the foot by setting myself up to edit a 30-part series, and numerous are the times I wish I could travel back to June 2018 and punch myself in the face.
And yet, for all the hell the series put me through from cycling hundreds of kilometres, to editing each and every episode relentlessly - when I look back over the episodes and see all the amazing things we saw, and the incredible folks we met along the way, there’s no denying it was one hell of an adventure.
That’s all for now folks, enjoy the vlog and have a great end to the week!
Chris
