I Decided to get a Tattoo! | Journey Across Japan Featured on Japanese TV | Patreon

`Hey guys,
Welcome to Friday! I hope you've all had a fantastic week so far.

So it's been another busy week of cycling and filming on Journey Across Japan - this week however, we were pleasantly surprised when we were contacted by a Japanese TV station to feature in a segment on a prime time slot.

They followed me around for a few hours whilst filming in Kumamoto city - the region that got devastated by an earthquake back in 2016 - and best of all, they even gave me a sexy Japanese accent voice dub. You can watch the segment (or most of it) at the above link!

Given that this has been the most intense week of filming and cycling yet, the next video is a few days behind schedule, but in the mean time, this week's Podcast is now out discussing my decision to get a tattoo in 2019 in Japanese characters.

I've often thought about getting a tattoo, but never planned on doing it until the day I was sure what I wanted - especially given that it's going to be tattooed on my skin for the rest of my life.

To find out what I plan to have, rather than describe it here, I've discussed the rationale behind it in the week's Podcast.

(Although if you're wondering what the kanji characters are: 起死回生)

And before the inevitable question; no, I'm not bothered about hot spring rules. I don't go in onsen or public baths as much as I used to and even then, if you go late at night, you can more or less hide it. Japan's no-tattoo policy has definitely become more relaxed in recent years leading up to the 2020 Olympics, so now's as good a time as any!

That's all for now though folks! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the tattoo below.

And keep an eye out for the new Journey Across Japan video with Mr Pete Donaldson over the weekend!

Messenger service by bicycle, a possible job position with law firms, business, and other reasons to expedite the service of communication! What an idea, glad you helped with its development and further establishment in Japan and with other Patreon members. Truely, a attestment to virtue of health, travel, and good fortune with the local people similar to the intent of the Olympics and its historic begging's. All the best as with all my messenger service opinions.

Regarding Irezumi, there can be only one - Souryou (son of Horiyoshi III). https://www.horiyoshi3-souryou.com/

Kurisu Burōdo-san, has a nice ring to it.

Haha, I should just get a giant North Korean missile tattoo.

Gratz Chris, avd can't wait to see what you decide on for the tattoo design.

As for your tattoo in regards to what image to have it upon or incorporated in, i think it should be a moment that really reflects the bad fortune turned good idea for you. Perhaps on a missile for the time your siren wake up call video went viral and got so much press, or Mt Fuji for when it was a horrid escapade but got so many views and new followers, that sort of thing.

Congratulations Chris, this is amazing. You are doing a great job and you should be proud! Sugoi!!

Amazing. xD

I am glad to hear that they have relaxed the rules on tattoos because it was one of the things holding me back from getting mine. Congratulations on national TV for the second (third?) time! Do you think you'll go to any of the Olympic games since you're still going to be there?

Wow, look how professional they made you appear! ;-) It's a shame they couldn't get Watanabe Ken to dub you.

I'll go one step further than showing you; I'll probably film the whole thing being done haha.

Abroad in Japan

Haha, I know right?! It's the dub we need but don't deserve.

Abroad in Japan

Congrats on the TV coverage! Here's hoping it brings in more locals to watch the cycle. And I must say, you got a winner of a dub.

Argus9 (Jonathan)

I'm glad to see you're getting some attention. I can't wait for more videos!!

For once it was a good thing that I'm chinese! Yet to listen to the podcast but I know what those characters mean hehe

Choong Chin Wei

Ha! Your voice-over puts so much enthusiasm into his words, in a way that you never would! Very funny :). Also: I just wonder what kind of artwork will surround your proverb... Will you show us when it's done? Otherwise: good luck wrapping everything up, and I hope reliving the cycle while editing will be fun!

Nynke de Haas

Dude! Very awesome on the news plug and on the planned tattoo. At least with you getting one in Japanese it'll actually mean what you think it does instead of something like "water"! Hahaha

Is there anyway you can hire him to dub your entire journey for a Japanese audience? Because that voice is freakin' SICK!
