I’ve been cycling for over a month. How do I feel? | Patreon Vlog

Hey guys,

Hope you’ve had a great week!

So there’s now a new Patreon vlog on how things are currently going and how I feel having cycled and journeyed relentlessly for over a month now.

For me, the most remarkable thing is we’ve somehow actually succeeded to film a video every single day of the trip (to a decent production quality). Since September alone we've had 20 new videos released on the Abroad in Japan channel - which I think may be more than the rest of the year combined!

But for now guys I’ll let the vlog do the talking before I simply cannibalise my own monologue.

I’m keen to hear your thoughts on the videos as always guys, and for anyone who missed the most recent video “Why I Don’t Speak Japanese in Vidoes” check it out below!

As someone who started watching your channel with this series, it was definitely worth it. I'm sorry it was so taxing on you but you should be really proud of it. And also never plan something so intense again. =]=]

My husband's Aunts live in Hokkaido and Tokyo and we've planned to visit for years but keep putting it off. Your show show may be what tips the scales for us and sends us to Japan at long last.

We've just returned from five weeks in Japan, thanks to your inspiring videos Chris. It's wonderful to see your cycle ride adventure as its like being back in Japan. Stay safe on the road

Chris, the series so far has been a blast to watch and really enjoy seeing all these places and people in Japan. I agree with the other patrons keep up your high production values and unique style and you will have a great series for future subscribers to binge. As a self employed small business owner who works long hours, I really understand your comments about getting up in the mornings on some days. Those days you can have so many challenges and jobs to complete, but one at a time we all get them done. It can be tough, but breathe take some breaks and keep your passion going and enjoy the trip. Thanks for the update and all your hard work. It’s really great stuff.

I've loved seeing the adventure thus far. Keep it up, Chris!

I can't do much more than echoing what everyone else is saying. You made a really important point in this video - it may take a little longer to see those videos _now_, but when people go back and watch this series in the future, the extra attention to detail and quality will mean a lot more than getting a bunch of iPhone videos out quickly. You've got the right idea.

Thank you so much for doing all of this and putting so much effort into it. We really appreciate it and totally understand the stress of wanting to post more often. Its great now and will be even greater to watch it after some time. Also: its reat to see different sides of JApan.!

I think it’s amazing and it makes me so happy that you’re filled with this renewed sense of purpose and that you’re really enjoying yourself. The videos have been awesome, and while I think I would have been just as content to see it filmed on an iPhone, there is more of a sense of adventure and rewatchability with the production quality where it is. I am happy that in some small way I was able to support this adventure for you and that it helped you to grow in such a big way. Keep it up, Chris! You’re doing great!

it's great that Okano, Sharla,Emma and all the others are helping you out by making behind the scenes and spinoff videos.

I don't want to know where he will hide the Go Pro. And do lose the beard or change the shape, as it looks hipster-like and pretentious :)

You should dye your facial hair.

Chris, it's inspiring to see you transformed like this. Seeing how energised and committed you are to this trip and the daily videos makes me want to challenge myself in the same way. When you're in the UK, will you do a Patreon meetup?

Don't worry about how quickly you release videos; the production quality of the series so far is more fulfilling than quickfire vids! I hope to one day also cycle across Japan but have yet to visit the country (the current goal is to visit sometime in 2020 for the olympics hype), it is a privilege to get to have a trial run alongside you on your astounding journey - You're doing superb and keep going! :D

Livestream will be on Tokyo Creative's YouTube channel.

Great to hear you're so motivated. Just a caveat - it doesn't *automatically* carry over into daily life afterwards. I always feel like it should and will after I do something big, but then you fall back into a routine and work, and I start feeling super annoyed for a while. It takes some good planning and brainstorming and pushing to move on to the next thing. I hope you manage to carry that through, and enjoy the last few days!

Just a suggestion, after all the videos are posted, can you collate some behinds the scenes and/or bloppers throughout the whole journey and put it in 1 video?

It's kinda nice to have a more off the cuff, more spontaneous 'behind the scenes' (kinda) vlog. It's different from the main videos and naturally feels more intimate. The phone cam quality is part of that really. So... yeah... probably better to put out a few more like this, filmed and edited in half and hour, then try to compete with the videos where you are putting in the production time.

Hearing the well deserved pride in your voice genuinely makes me feel motivated to do something more productive and push myself to not just waste the days away. Really happy to have a little sit down catch up vlog, it's just what we need after seeing you constantly at 100% in the main videos! I'm trying to consciously not rewatch some of the videos so I can have a huge binge session when they're all done! Looking forward to the live show and hope you relaxed in the onsen! ✌🏻

Glad you are feeling better! Looking forward to the content featuring Pete “Certified Japanophile” Donaldson. Just wanted to say congratulations to you for completing the cycle leg where you spoke Japanese only, added pressure to cycling and filming and completing challenges.

Well I’m super impressed with how well all these cycle videos are put together! You treat your followers well by giving us such amazing footage and editing while pushing yourself so hard. Damn man please get some fucking rest and food! 😃 I saw an Instagram post from Tokyo Creative saying you were live-streaming with Emma tomorrow (Friday) night? If that’s actually happening where should we watch it... on Instagram? Anyway keep up the fantastic work! I’m looking forward to binge watching all the videos again when your cycle is finished. 👍

Hey Chris, thanks for the patron update! I don't have a Twitter so I didn't hear you were sick until someone told me about your tweet. I'm praying for your recovery and more strength to get through this cycle! I'm looking forward to the rest of your amazing videos. Keep it up 😃

Good to hear from you mate. Thanks for all you do. :)

Loved seeing the Patreon notification in my email. Great way to end the day for me! Take care of yourself, mate, the videos will come out when they will. I've got no problem waiting a few days if it means you get to be healthy and well. Love the videos so far, and I'm really excited to be visiting Japan next October!

Glad to see you're alive and looking well Chris! Keep up the great work, and say hi to everyone your cycling with from your Patreon supporters!

Jesus Christ Chris! You bloody hero 😃 well done for keeping up with such a crazy schedule and keeping the content at the highest quality. Good man!

Awesome Chris, keep it up you’re almost there!

Slightly embarrassed to admit i just finished a bowl of ice cream when this had uploaded. So, you're nearing Kagoshima. i hope you check out Sakurajima. I plan to go there next October and would like to know if it's worth the 10 hour round trip from Osaka.

I’m so excited to see so much more, Chris! I’m glad you’re feeling better. It’s really cool to hear about your progress behind the scenes. Even after the ride is done, take it easier, but do something small every day so that you keep your momentum! Cheers!

I thought it was good to see that at times it’s not been the easiest thing to do. I tried cycling at the gym for 16 minutes and thought golly, I couldn’t do this all day.

Seeing this level of motivation in 2018 ina world of phone zombies and domino's pizza, is quite inspiring, keep going chris!

No joke, truly inspiring Chris.

Keep up the great work Chris!
