Hey guys!
So last week to celebrate hitting 1m subscribers, some friends in Sendai threw me a surprise party and for the second time ever, Natsuki and Ryotaro were actually in the same place! Being together with the lads was the highlight of the party - in particular their ridiculous and spontaneous sword fight which you can find in the video above!
The last few days have been spectacularly intense; filming four brand new videos no less, out from next week until early October! Here’s a rundown of what to expect in the next few weeks and what you’ve got to look forward to! (In the order they’ll likely be released).

Where is the Best Place to See Mount Fuji? | Next Week
For years, I’ve absolutely failed to get a good view of Mount Fuji; so in preparation for the cycle and to kill two birds with one stone, I’ve come to the best viewing spot in Japan to see it; Kawaguchi Lake at the base of the mountain - to spot Fuji and cycle 20km.
Joining me on the trip is arch nemesis Sharla (“in Japan”), who may potentially join the 2,000km cycle for a segment, if she’s able to make it around the lake with me and pass my cruel test at Fuji Q Highland Park - Japan’s greatest theme park.

48 Hours in Sendai | 10 Things to Do
Having lived in Sendai almost three years now, without making a single video about the city and the area, it was time to right this wrong once and for all. Joined by local celebrity Ryotaro, we travel from the mountains to the sea, eating, drinking and even fishing our way across the region - with an itinerary that could be pulled off in 24 hours!
We’re also joined by a genuine local celebrity; the most famous foreign musician living in Japan (and a good friend who lives in Sendai), Blaise from Monkey Majik. If you’ve not heard of the band, definitely check out their latest song (bleow), which is currently enjoying viral success, due to it’s bizarre lyrics and Earth Wind & Fire aesthetic (I bloody love it).

When Will I Leave Japan?
At the end of the recent “6 Life Lessons I Learned in Japan” video, I asked viewers to send in their Ask Abroad comments and questions, to be answered in an upcoming. THIS is that video; ultimately answering the inevitable question that I get asked everyday by everyone ever “How long will I stay in Japan?”
Japan’s Most Expensive Tuna
Ryotaro and I travel to the edge of Japan, the town of Oma on Honshu’s most northern tip, to uncover the secret behind Japan’s most expensive tuna, where individual fish have sold for as much $1m to wealthy restaurants looking to turn the fish into mouthwatering tuna.
Along the way we head out into the Tsugaru strait to watch fish being caught, witness one of Japan’s most breathtaking natural views, and take part in a squid racing contest (which is an actual thing?!)

So lot’s to look forward to guys! IN the mean time, keep yourself busy with the latest Podcast out this week, where Pete and I revisit the Abroad in Japan channel’s most watched video ever “12 Things Not to Do in Japan” and discuss them in greater detail than in the video and which ones are actually worth adhering to if you want to play by the rules of Japan!

And of course, we had a brand new video out this week “Japanese Mountain Training | 24 Hours of Hell” where Ryotaro dragged me up a mountain and nearly drowned me, all under the guise of “preparing me” for the cycle. That said it was good fun, and I was delighted by the opening drone shot! It was a fucking nightmare to film the car moving, given that I was inside it whilst simultaneously flying the drone. It was a rather trippy experience but I’m delighted with how it turned out.

I’m starting to get excited in the run up to the cycle; having cycled 30km today to film the Fuji video, I feel somewhat battered and my legs are aching, but I currently feel as if an endorphin bomb has gone off in my head and anything is possible.
Finally got a bicycle as well! In the end I opted for a mountain bike, given that this isn’t a race, and that we needed thicker tyres that wouldn’t end up getting frequently punctured. It’s a fantastic bike and I’m looking forward to hitting the road in just under a month and beginning the adventure of a life time.
Now you've seen Natsuki and Ryotaro doing a premium sword, what should we see next? I must admit, they got on a lot better than I expected over dinner and a collaboration may now finally be on the card in the coming months!
But for now guys, no matter where you might be out there in the big wide world, here’s wishing you an amazing Thursday.
