Natsuki vs. Ryotaro Sword Fight | 4 New Upcoming Videos

Hey guys!

So last week to celebrate hitting 1m subscribers, some friends in Sendai threw me a surprise party and for the second time ever, Natsuki and Ryotaro were actually in the same place! Being together with the lads was the highlight of the party - in particular their ridiculous and spontaneous sword fight which you can find in the video above!

The last few days have been spectacularly intense; filming four brand new videos no less, out from next week until early October! Here’s a rundown of what to expect in the next few weeks and what you’ve got to look forward to! (In the order they’ll likely be released).

Where is the Best Place to See Mount Fuji? | Next Week
For years, I’ve absolutely failed to get a good view of Mount Fuji; so in preparation for the cycle and to kill two birds with one stone, I’ve come to the best viewing spot in Japan to see it; Kawaguchi Lake at the base of the mountain - to spot Fuji and cycle 20km.

Joining me on the trip is arch nemesis Sharla (“in Japan”), who may potentially join the 2,000km cycle for a segment, if she’s able to make it around the lake with me and pass my cruel test at Fuji Q Highland Park - Japan’s greatest theme park.

*CONTAINS STRONG LANGUAGE*

48
Hours in Sendai | 10 Things to Do

Having lived in Sendai almost three years now, without making a single video about the city and the area, it was time to right this wrong once and for all. Joined by local celebrity Ryotaro, we travel from the mountains to the sea, eating, drinking and even fishing our way across the region - with an itinerary that could be pulled off in 24 hours!

We’re also joined by a genuine local celebrity; the most famous foreign musician living in Japan (and a good friend who lives in Sendai), Blaise from Monkey Majik. If you’ve not heard of the band, definitely check out their latest song (bleow), which is currently enjoying viral success, due to it’s bizarre lyrics and Earth Wind & Fire aesthetic (I bloody love it).

When
Will I Leave Japan?

At the end of the recent “6 Life Lessons I Learned in Japan” video, I asked viewers to send in their Ask Abroad comments and questions, to be answered in an upcoming. THIS is that video; ultimately answering the inevitable question that I get asked everyday by everyone ever “How long will I stay in Japan?”

Japan’s Most Expensive Tuna

Ryotaro and I travel to the edge of Japan, the town of Oma on Honshu’s most northern tip, to uncover the secret behind Japan’s most expensive tuna, where individual fish have sold for as much $1m to wealthy restaurants looking to turn the fish into mouthwatering tuna.

Along the way we head out into the Tsugaru strait to watch fish being caught, witness one of Japan’s most breathtaking natural views, and take part in a squid racing contest (which is an actual thing?!)

---------------

So lot’s to look forward to guys! IN the mean time, keep yourself busy with the latest Podcast out this week, where Pete and I revisit the Abroad in Japan channel’s most watched video ever “12 Things Not to Do in Japan” and discuss them in greater detail than in the video and which ones are actually worth adhering to if you want to play by the rules of Japan!

And of course, we had a brand new video out this week “Japanese Mountain Training | 24 Hours of Hell” where Ryotaro dragged me up a mountain and nearly drowned me, all under the guise of “preparing me” for the cycle. That said it was good fun, and I was delighted by the opening drone shot! It was a fucking nightmare to film the car moving, given that I was inside it whilst simultaneously flying the drone. It was a rather trippy experience but I’m delighted with how it turned out.

I’m starting to get excited in the run up to the cycle; having cycled 30km today to film the Fuji video, I feel somewhat battered and my legs are aching, but I currently feel as if an endorphin bomb has gone off in my head and anything is possible.

Finally got a bicycle as well! In the end I opted for a mountain bike, given that this isn’t a race, and that we needed thicker tyres that wouldn’t end up getting frequently punctured. It’s a fantastic bike and I’m looking forward to hitting the road in just under a month and beginning the adventure of a life time.

Now you've seen Natsuki and Ryotaro doing a premium sword, what should we see next? I must admit, they got on a lot better than I expected over dinner and a collaboration may now finally be on the card in the coming months!

But for now guys, no matter where you might be out there in the big wide world, here’s wishing you an amazing Thursday.

- And don’t forget to check out Monkey Majik’s amazing song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWo627F7CeU

Natsuki vs. Ryotaro Sword Fight | 4 New Upcoming Videos

Comments

Not only right in the crotch, but in true Natsuki style, he just pushed the sword further in! Great video! Finally Natsuki and Ryotaro faced off!

I'm heading to Sendai now as I'm typing this! Ahhhh I wished I could have seen the Sendai before my trip. But nevertheless, looking for to the new videos you'll be putting up!

By the way I love Monkey Majik, thank you for introducing them into my life.

Thank you for the update Chris, I can't wait to see what you have been up to next with your training, videos and podcasts. It sounds kinda odd but we've all followed you through your experiences of japan and we love the country seen by your eyes. I can't wait to see what you do next (but I hope it's in Japan a little while longer). Much love to all involved. Xo

Chris, are you going to publish the schedule for your 2,000km cycle? I'll be in Japan for 22 days during November and was curious if a small detour from whatever schedule I create would lead me to cross paths with a saddle sore 外人。Many thanks on making a film about Sendai, I look forward to viewing it.

I would love to see a video of what to visit in the north of Japan (Tohoku) and Kanto if you only had 1 week. Also, I love that you are doing a Sendai video ( I was wondering why there was none). :)

You've done videos on capsule hotels, talked about love hotels already and approached the cost of travel to japan in several videos. A video that focuses on how to go about renting a temporary apartment for a multi week/month trip to Japan would be very informative and helpful

Question is, which ones would you want to actually see?!

Abroad in Japan

It would be really rad to see a who's who of j-vlogger YouTubers appear along the way.

Luke Watts

hahaha I love Ryotaro's genuine reaction to Natsuki's ridiculousness. I want to see more of that in the future.

Chantal Ward

He’s a man of honour!

Abroad in Japan

Chris - I was totally devastated by the flu and in bed for days recently. I binge re-watched your entire channel while I was recovering and am on such an Abroad in Japan high. Yours is one of the very few channels I know that has grown, evolved and gotten slicker with it's production value while still remaining focused on content quality and retaining it's "soul" - for lack of a better term. So pumped to see what's coming up next.

Janelle

Hey Chris, i hope you have a good seat, really comfortable, i think you will need it ;-) and a tire which ist mit running flat quick. Really important if you don't want to get repairing break soon. Looking forward to the Start of your Trip!!

Looking forward to the Sendai video, as I'm visiting the city next year, so getting some ideas for things to do would be useful :)

On the flip side, now Im addicted to Monkey Majik

John P Kowalchuk

Good story on the Mountain Training, but man, warp stabilizer and focus issues made it rough

John P Kowalchuk

Sounds like everything's going great right now. Awesome to hear! The bike trip's gonna be one of those big things you look back on later in life; enjoy it!

Ryan Wolf

The things you stumble onto on YouTube lol

LOL, Natsuki at the end... I mean, why? Why would you push the sword further into you? Especially there? :)

Aimee G

Who else got excited when they read the strong language warning? 😂💁

Please say that I’m not the only one who reads these awesome updates in Chris’s voice? 😅

Matthew

Dawn of Justice Delicious

I’m so excited for Blaise to be in a video. I’ve been a huge fan of Monkey Majik since their first EP and have had the chance to meet Blaise and Maynard twice when they played in Toronto.

New idea for a t-shirt: drawing of the sword fight between Natsuki and Risottoro.

rafa UGM

How the heck did the universe not implode with the anomaly of The Dark Lord Ryotaro vs Defender of Ultimate Coolness Natsuki meeting? D: (But seriously, thanks for making that happen! Ryotaro always makes me laugh, and Natsuki is the best!)

Be interested in the best place to view Fuji as visiting Japan hopefully next may / June. ( hope no strenuous hiking climbing envolved )

Nick rees

Since you went back to Fuji, now is a good time to reupload your climbing Fuji video
