6 LIFE LESSONS I LEARNED IN JAPAN | Almost Done

Hey guys,

I hope you’ve all had a great week so far!

As you can see from the screen grab above from the all new video “6 Life Lessons I Learned in Japan”, we have an incredible, elaborate premium pyrotechnics display to look forward to. Seemingly no expense was spared.

It’s actually one of the most personal videos I’ve made to date - as you’d expect given the nature of the title, but hopefully amongst the more serious topics discussed, there’s still some amusement to be had as well (especially the somewhat horrific discovery revealed at the start of the video).

I’m desperately trying to finish it and get it out this weekend - in the mean time to keep you busy, we’ve got an all new Podcast, as well as a Tokyo Creative video and an appearance on the biggest Anime channel (with Joey the Anime Man), where my lack of anime knowledge is well and truly exposed.

Podcast | "Adult Toys & Bathing Suits"
Pete and I sit down to answer questions sent in by listeners for 45 minutes; from the absurdity of mainstream Japanese sex toys (that aren’t even hidden away in 18+ sections), and explaining the difference between a Yukata and a Kimono, to the wacky world of body pillows and how to start a successful Youtube channel in Japan. There’s scarcely a topic we didn’t cover this week!

How Much Do They Know About Anime? [Ft. Abroad in Japan & The Anime Man]

I go head to head with Emma, as Joey the Anime Man tests our knowledge of anime and I find myself surprised at what a truly ridiculous genre it is. If you’re into your Anime I suspect you’ll enjoy this.

How Much Do I ACTUALLY Know About Anime? (feat. Abroad In Japan & Tokidoki Traveller)
And then the complete opposite happens when Emma and I test Joey the so called “Anime Man’s” knowledge and see if he lives up to the hype - before I steal his phone and hijack his twitter.

Finally, I'm seeing Natsuki next  week and currently dreaming up ways of exploiting his appearance in Sendai with a new video.

I'm thinking of asking him to be my personal trainer for a day in the run up to the cycle. Surely the great man has some tricks up his sleeve to prepare for me such a challenge?

Open to ideas as always though guys! What would you like to see us to?!

Wishing you all a pleasant day, no matter where you might be out there in the big wide world!
Chris

This 6 Life Lessons video is fantastic! One of my favorites so far.

How have your automatic responds changed in the last 6 years? I lived in Mongolia for 2 years and I noticed changes to my: hand gestures, speaking pattern, and quick reaction responds. Some were in responds to picking up local customs and other were what I did to make others understand me better.

Ever since reading The 47 Ronin, I've wanted to visit Sengaku-ji in Tokyo. Have you been, Chris? I only ask because you do visit some temples in your videos.

This was a nice video, very reminiscent of your older videos. I kind of missed them.

Just heard about the earthquake in Hokkaido, after all the floods; mudslides and typhoon that's got to be devastating.

YAY 1M! I asked a question on YouTube, but just thought of another thing I’d like to add ... I’d love to see a video about what apps are big in Japan—what does everyone have on their phone? You’re the best, Chris! I know we’re all looking forward to lots of great content going forward. And one more request: can you do another video on the most ridiculous comments you get? You know we love them, and it *has* been a while ...

Congrats on 1 million! =D

Congratulations on the 1 Mio subscribers! I just watch the video. It turned out really great! I am still amazed by how fast you learned Japanese, how did you keep yourself motivated? I am studying for a year now and at the moment I am just getting tired of studying but not making much progress anymore. Also, I moved to Japan a little over a year ago and started watching your videos in Feb 2017. They really helped with what one can expect from living in Japan. So thank you very much. I always enjoy your videos, I am looking forward to your bicycle tour in October. Thats going to be very exciting!

I hope you weathered Jebi all right. My friend is a manager at Kyoto Station and I'm sure you saw what happened in that neck of the woods. Congratulations on your 1 million subscriber milestone. I wish you luck on your bicycle adventure. I wish I could go this year as I do every October/November, but this year I've got my daughter's college to pay for. :)

where is the video, you keep advert on your podcast which i dont really care for .... its like going back in time when we listern to radios ....the only vid i seen since was riotoro the movie and something about a drone . which was so long ago

I think Chris and Natsuki should go and try Sumo Wrestling in preparation of the cycle

Please have that image as the thumbnail, it's quite funny for reasons that uhh... kids won't get.

Congratulations!

The pic looks like you just finished man :))

Waiting patiently for video. Podcast was fun ride as always. Anime questions vids were hilarious for someone that knew most of the answers. :D Couldn't think anything more to add. You're moving for new chapter of videos. Would like to see what are your inspiration outside movies that you like, when you're making content. Take your time, be well and do it at your own pace. Good luck with preparations for bike ride.

Seconded!

Matthew

I think Natsuki would make a great personal trainer. Still waiting on Justice Delicious shirt. I would love to hear more about what you are doing to prepare for the bike ride.

That was my first thought, too -- it's a bit ... lewd

Crisu

Thanks for the update. I love your more personal, serious videos. It’s nice to get to know the YouTubers I watch instead of treat them like some soulless monkeys who dance for my amusement, so I appreciate when you share your personal feelings/experiences with the audience. Hope you’re having an awesome day, too. :)

Reborn in Japan is an awesome channel name.

A lovely tandem bike ride together.

It nearly levelled my living room

Will you use the screen grab as a thumbnail? Because it's very very sexual, haha.

I think Natsuki's training tips would probably involve cigarettes

Sheepless

If Natsuki is coming to Sendai, that might be an opportunity for a Natsuki/Ryotaro crossover, which would be the most ambitious crossover event of all time, even more than infinity war

JBS

You weren’t wrong in your last Patreon blog about the size of those party poppers haha
