NATSUKI: THE MOVIE | Watch Now! (Yes really!)

Oh my god, we did it!

I'm free! Freeeeee!

On a serious note guys, a huge thanks for making this happen. At last we can finally give Natsuki the screen time he deserves and see his life behind the scenes (as well as all the crazy stuff in Europe).

At the risk of devaluing the documentary, I’ve been suggesting on social media that Natsuki: The Movie should be a drinking game.
- Drink every time Natsuki drinks, smokes or swears (which is on average almost every 10 seconds I think). What better way to spend Thursday or Friday evening. (And of course, it doesn't have to be alcoholic).

Some awesome folks have even organised a streaming event if you do fancy watching it together!
► You can find the links to the event here: https://goo.gl/87koxj

There's so much to talk about but I think it's best saved for video; with that in mind, we've got two Patreon exclusive videos next week.

In the first video, “Natsuki: The Movie | Your Questions Answered” it’ll be your chance to get any question you have about the movie answered, in a Q&A video, where I’ll be sitting down with a beverage whilst answering and discussing anything you guys want to know!
► Send me your questions here: https://goo.gl/forms/zJOIfXOYNChlR26N2

In the second video “10 Things I Learned Making Natsuki: The Movie | From Start to Finish”, I’ll be discussing the various trials and tribulations that came about whilst producing the film. At times it was an utter nightmare to film, but for the most part it was a fun learning process, and I’d love to share with you all a behind the scenes commentary with exclusive clips, and a real in-depth insight into the whole process. It should be entertaining - and dare I say educational to those of you interested in filmmaking!

And for those of you that aren't Natsuki fans (Ryotaro's army) and are looking for other content, we've also had two great Podcast out this past week.

In today's Podcast Pete and I discussed some of the biggest news stories in Japan from this month, including an awkward meal between the Japanese Prime Minister and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu involving a chocolate shoe, and terrifying story involving a criminal on the run in Chiba, who's incident sounds like a character out of a David Lynch film.

In last week’s Podcast “21 Questions” we answered questions sent in by listeners and raced against the clock to answer an obscene amount in a short space of time.

Questions include: What question do you get asked the most? Do viewers visit Natsuki’s salon? What are the best parts of living in rural Japan? How can you meet people while travelling Japan?

► You can have a listen to both here: http://hyperurl.co/nhgr30

It'll be back to normal videos in the next week or so and we'll be hitting the ground running into the next major project: Cycling across Japan for a month! More on that to follow.

Sadly Youtube demonetised Natsuki: The Movie, although I requested a manual review. Good luck to whoever has to sit through the film for an hour and work out if it's family friendly!

Enjoy the film guys and once again a huge super thanks to you all for turning a vague idea into HD reality.

Chris

P.S. What was your favourite quote from the film?

Mine was:
"I'm eccentric power. I have eccentric power."
- Whatever the devil that means.

I just finally got to watch it and you've done such a fantastic job, my husband and I both enjoyed it immensely. Justice delicious, ya'll!

Excellent job! Very well filmed & edited, and the soundtrack was excellent too.

I finally got to watch it, that was fantastic! All your hard work payed off!

Mike Mason

Amazing

Great movie

Oscar worthy

Matthew Cirilli

I'm so sad that YouTube demonetised the film. But, great job! Thoroughly enjoyed it and I'm glad the friendship you have with Natsuki has benefitted the both of you in life changing ways. It's a rare thing!

Aaahhh I loved it so much! It was amazing. I'm so happy for Natsuki!

Chris, thanks so much for your hard work. All the hours spent editing (and humming in anticipation on our end) were totally worth. Your love for your craft came across with great attention to detail and enthusiasm. This is gonna sound super dramatic, but between the realism, the humor, and your tribute to a meaningful friendship, I also felt some fresh inspiration amidst my own grad school/quarter-life crisis. Happy to be a patron. And looking forward to the next film! :) P.S. If you guys make a trip to America, I will definitely come to collect my balloon if I see you in the street aha.

So awesome

And so surreal seeing my name in that list at the end...

Just watched it! What a rare beast Natsuki is... a free spirit in a land of conformity. I cannot help but admire his zeal! TBH I could have watched a film twice the length but I suspect you would have had a breakdown trying to make something twice as big. Congrats Chris; this deserves all the exposure it can get!

Feels weird to see one's own name in the end credits of a movie. But glad to have helped out Chris. Feels like I've learned a lot more about Natsuki now. Now to look forward to seeing Chris making a sequel about Ryotaro. lol

Rynnik Elddi

I just became a Patron because of this movie! (but I've been watching your channel for a long time so uh sorry it took so long)

Awesome dude. Very, very well done. Send Natsuki my greetings and thanks from the Netherlands <3

Jeroen Meijer

Ow my gawd my name is on the Patreon supporter's list. I love you, Chris and Natsuki. Thank you so much for this unforgettable experience.

Errol246

So now I've seen it i can say an official congratulations! It's a stonker! Great job.

I feel as if there has to be an American trip in the future. So that he can FINALLY visit Sid Vicious' grave. It's on his bucket list after all.

Sophia Thompson

This really is the crown jewel of all your endeavors on this channel. Made me hop on the Patreon to show my gratitude for all the content you've released over the years. Just amazing.

Maksymilian Strzelecki

Sequel: Natsuki in America: The Search for Sid Vicious' grave.

"When you recollect an old dream, don't discard it." Now we love Natuski even more!!! Thank you Chris for sharing Natsuki to the world. :)

This was brilliant. My favorite quote was the bit about Jesus Crisis’ dog. 😂 Also I can relate a lot to Natsuki working all the time and not feeling like he ever gets a break to relax. I’m on that boat too, mate. If you guys ever come to the US for his next holiday/movie you totally have a place to stay here in the PNW. Great job with the film and totally worth the wait! 😃❤️🎈

Laura Beaumont

Woooo!!!

Nari Kim

We just wrapped up the streaming party for US East here - wow! That was incredible! I don't have words yet, but that was well worth the wait. It was so nice to learn more about Natsuki and see you unleash him on the UK. :) I also only vaguely remember the rules to the drinking game, so we fudged it - any time Natsuki smoked, drank, or cussed in a scene, we took a drink. And I count 17 drinks. :) Thanks again for all the hard work Chris. You don't come across videos of this quality on YouTube...ever, really. I hope you enjoyed making it as much as we all enjoyed watching it!

Argus9 (Jonathan)

As a native of Wiltshire, I loved the "looked at some rocks" comment. :) (Oh, and Natsuki's DGAF attitude to the seagull)

next film idea: Natsuki goes to an American anime convention (and I happen to staff one :D ) It's official, "Life is Balloons" is my favorite quote....along with "Jesus Crisis's Dog"....I don't know why but it is funny lol. Great job and not gonna lie, it was pretty awesome to see how many Patreon people have helped make the movie! Proud to be in the club with so many other amazing people!!

Barbara Smith

Amazing movie! So well done Chris! And so kind of you to list your supporters at the end as well. Natsuki is balloons!

“Jesus’ crisis dog”

Fucking brilliant! Chris I've been watching you for about 4 years now and you are still fucking killing it! One of the best content creators online... The only one I am willing to pay for to see their videos. Sending love from Spain! <3

Yaaaay! Congratulations! My favourite quotes would be "Life is balloons" and "it looks like a dangerous" (about the snails)!

イケアガール

Congrats on finally getting this finished Chris! After watching it, I can safely say that all the effort you put in was well worth it!

t4ku57

WOOOOO

Benjamin McKechnie

“Jesus crisis dog”, sounds like another good merch idea 😂 Thanks for making this, Chris (et all). Have a beer, and a rest 🍻 Cheers!

Matthew

Even though I would count myself to the so-called "Ryotaro - army", I more than enjoyed this video!! Wowser! Now, get a good rest and whenever you feel like another movie - just ask dear fella Risottoro! 🍚

Natsuki, next time come to Russia! 待ってます!

Alexander

Incredible. No other words. Just incredible.

Dykam

Jesus crisis dog for the win. Really enjoyable, nicely balanced too. Good work.

Congratulations Chris! We've just watched it, brilliant job, you must be relieved it's finally finished! Really enjoyed it, well done. I especially loved 'Jesus crisis dog' 😂

“Jesus crisis dog!” or “it looks like a dangerous” (about the escargot). 🤣👌🏻

Awesome surprise putting the Patreon's in the credits!

This is happiness in movie form! :D

Congrats on all of your outstanding work, Chris! Natsuki and yourself should be proud with how well this documentary came out. Cheers and all the best!

botchpro

Really nice work Chris! The movie was great :)

Martijn Dijksen

Been counting down the days since the announcement, awesome as expected and worth the wait, I happily expected to have to pay to watch so the fact it was free was even more amazing. The world needs more Natsuki's.

Well done on getting it out, albiet 8 months later than first announced haha I look forward to watching it later, feel free to come join us for the viewing party even if you have seen it already! https://www.reddit.com/r/ABroadInJapan/comments/8l30ez/natsuki_the_movie_viewing_parties_please_read/

I was full of emotion watching the ending. I felt like I was watching the last episode of one of my favorite series that was ending (almost cried right there). Luckily its not the case ?! Fantastic movie!

YouTube has a habit of failing to work

Abroad in Japan

Fucking awesome! ! You got the ending just right!

Argh... busy now but I'll be watching later - can't wait. Congrats on getting it out. Enjoy a beer or two!

Hmm weird I wasn't notified of the release....

It’s amazing

Alexander

Chris! That. Was. Brilliant!! Loved it all! Camerawork was great. The background music was so good. But I have to say the best thing about it was the editing. Seamless and flawless. You are a very talented man. Well worth the wait. Btw, YT can suck it for the demonetisation. In the words of the great Natsuki himself, YT....go f@$# yourself! Would love to know how you're feeling about the finished product...and what does Natsuki think of it?

Well done, mate! Put your feet up and enjoy your freedom for a bit :)

Woohoo! Freedom on a bike! don't forget to apply sunscreen! And have a nice publication party today/tomorrow! I have now watched the whole thing (some bits twice - I almost missed my own name on screen!) and have thoroughly enjoyed it! Also, I have skived off work for an hour. I'll catch up later :). I also really loved your choices of background music. What were these songs? And I spotted one subtitling error (sorry!), assuming Natsuki is speaking grammatical Japanese at the time: "And when that times comes" at 12.11. I'm not sure how feasible it is to edit a video after it's been posted, but I just thought I'd let you know anyway (in spite of knowing what it's like to see my own typos after publication of something I had worked on for years...).

Nynke de Haas

Thanks for the shout out to Patreons. And looking forward to the next instalment!

The wait totally paid off, great movie Chris.

rafa UGM

82 Chris's supported this film, Viva la revolución!

Chris Parsons

Glad this came out on the last day of my exam's, couldn't ask for it any other way!

Ben Sampson

Well done on a landmark day, Chris! I can't lie, I skipped right to the end to see my name immortalised in the credits...and now I can watch.

haha I think I'd legitimately watch that

Abroad in Japan

You aren’t free, we are all expecting “Natsuki the Movie 2, Revenge of Ryotaro” in close succession

Lyall Moffitt

Really? We can look it?Chris, i take you by your word and try watching it! Can't wait for it!

I never thought I'd see this day... and then it happens when I'm at work, and can't watch videos! Looking forward to watching it at home tonight. As for demonetisation: is Natsuki really family friendly, though, with all the drinking, smoking, and swearing?

Sheepless

Man, screw YouTube. What could have been a mature filter is now a full-blown puritanical censorship effort. I haven't seen the movie yet (as I'll be hosting one of the streaming events you so kindly bumped - thanks Chris!), but knowing your style, it can't be worse than a few cuss words. Thankfully there's stuff like Patreon to give you other avenues to gain support, and I'm doubling my pledge this month to compensate. Not trying to make a statement or anything, just trying to help counter YouTube in my own small way. Chris, this has been such a long time coming and I'm so excited to see how it turned out. Thank you for all the hard work you and the team put into this. I don't think I was even this hyped about Avengers. Can't wait! Only 9 hours to go. A very slow 9 hours...

Argus9 (Jonathan)

That's absolutely insane that they demonetised it... it's not even been up for the length of itself yet. Really amazes me how much they try to shoot themselves in the foot over proper creators like yourself and then let off asshats scot free, that arguably do actual damage with their videos. Anyway as much as I've been looking forward to this I am gonna save it for this weekend to watch with my girlfriend :)

I have an exam tomorrow but fuck that

Salt

Well done man =] Super stoked to watch this later! You've taken another big jump towards your dream of being a film maker!

Well done Chris, congratulations on your efforts!

Thank you for all your hard work in producing this for us Chris!

Red

Congratulations!

OMG finally!!!
