For now, have a great weekends guys!

Chris

P.S. I'd like to point out the shout out isn't an April Fools (given its April 1st). It's thanks to the efforts of Pete Donaldson - the co-presenter on the Podcast, who interviewed the man himself and got him to do the awesome shoutout during his interview!

You should totally do the winking thing. ❤️ Really sorry about the Taiwan trip though, what a letdown after working so hard 😣 I was once escorted out of Gatwick like that, it's a surreal experience, like a movie set without the actors (it was 6am)

LOVE love love Bryan Cranston. Beautiful work on the travel videos. So sorry about your trip—#FML moment if ever there was one. Hope you can get something else fun on the calendar soon!

Of course! It's the same like bowing at Telephone at saying"hai, hai ... Hai" 🤣👍

Hi Chris keep up the good work. I had a request, would it be possible for you to source the news articles you feature in your wacky news sections. Whenever I'm curious I'd like to read up on it, even if the article is Japanese. Thank you.

Hey Chris. Good to see you can lighten the mood of your past week by laughing at it - not many people can do that these days but it certainly helps! I did notice you had made many travel videos which have certainly made me interested in Northern Japan. It would be good to see another Japanglish video, as the last one was in 2016. Even a video on unique things of your local city to your home country would be great to see (e.g pachinko slots, adult game arcades, and other unique places you see in most japan cities that is not see in western countries). I hope you have an enjoyable and less stressful April!

So sorry to hear about your passport problems and that you missed your holiday :( could happen to anyone but I guess when it happens you can't help but feel stupid >.< But I was happy to see all the new vids :) A Bryan Cranston shout out! Awesome :) When I was a kid I liked him in Malcolm in the middle. But he totally rocks as Walter White! Great actor <3

Chris! I have an very important question. When you eat chicken by yourself all alone in your apartment do you say "Itadakimasu" before eating?

And now chris regrets sharing that nugget of info. xD

Fun podcast once again. Loved to watch Robot Wars, though it was all reruns. Found a video with your robot https://youtu.be/57aZUmLrBQg?t=1620

Dykam

Wow what an absolute suck about your passport.

Kristin Briley

Sorry Chris I just wanted to bring up you had mentioned a month ago or on the 21st I believe. That you would buy a drink for Patreon only figured I'd make a suggestion that you make merchandise specifically for Patron customers. That way you'd be able to tell just buy the shirt they're wearing. Or maybe put on the backof shirt patreon Backer? So basically you just need to change the back of the shirt or whatever. Just to make a distinguishable from YouTubers only!

Back in 2016 I went to an Italian cafe called Foodelica in a small neighborhood in Kyoto, Kitayama Dori. I kid you not, they had the best pasta I've had anywhere in my life. Sadly, the owner retired and the cafe was closed down. I had planned to take my girlfriend here on our trip to Japan this year, so hearing the news was a blow. So I'll only have the memories of that delicious plate of gorgonzola linguini to hold on to. And this photo: https://photos.app.goo.gl/tVrs0Kqdy9LBOmCB3

@Kinny Riddle It's too perfect to be a coincidence... :)

Argus9 (Jonathan)

Holy cow, Bryan Heisenberg Cranston. Your ultimate aim should be to get Donald to record Ken Watanabe endorsing your channel, after like a dozen celebrities have done so after Cranston. Gutted to hear your holiday was called off due to passport complications. Was strange to hear they only told you about your passport AFTER you passed through immigration instead of during. Anyway, hope you've renewed your passport since then. Speaking of Monster Gyoza, just recently saw an anime that had an episode featuring that very store that you've been to. And another episode where the characters went to the Monster Ramen store that you went to. Maybe the folks behind that anime are ardent followers of your channel? :)

Rynnik Elddi

Have you considered going to a maid cafe with natsuki? :3

Brendan Gilet

Been putting off renewing my passport for months now. Better get to it then.

I tend to like your food videos. One thing I'm curious about is how Japan does food from other countries. Not brand stuff like McDonalds or something like that. I mean like have you seen any restaurants that serve say Tex-Mex or Mexican cuisines. I'd like to see stuff like that. And more of the strange entertainment places. Animal cafes. Wacky bars. 10 story building of pure arcades.

So sorry to hear about your passport troubles. It's an easy mistake to make, particularly when you've been working so much recently and, it sounds, flirting with burnout. Is there any way you can take a make-up trip? Thanks so much for all your hard work, you really are my first point of contact when planning a trip to Japan or learning about Japanese geography and culture. The first video I saw was your trip to Okunoshima, and I was an instant fan of your work; in fact, your subsequent videos made me finally take the plunge to go to Japan in 2016 (and 2017, and hopefully again this year) and it was every bit as wonderful, weird and overwhelmingly amazing as it seemed in your videos. Thanks again.

Sorry about your passport situation. I'd be super upset if that happened to me. I'd like to see a video of a Japanese "grocery store" and a Japanese food market. Where do you buy food besides resturaunts and コンビニ?

Zac Kelsey

When you go to Kyushu, make sure you get proper Hakata Ramen from a yatai in Fukuoka. Best ramen anywhere.

Hello Chris, I first want to say I have really enjoyed all your videos. The hard work in editing is shown and very appreciated. I am looking forward to the next month videos as well. It sucks about your trip, and I am sure the whole thing felt like a kick in the gut. If it is any consolation, I will learn from your mistake and be sure to check my passport before I plan to travel. (I did not know there was a 6 month buffer to the expiration date?) I also think you should keep the wink, look better then you give yourself credit. I am starting to learn Japanese and your videos have been of great help. Keep up the good work. Oh ya does the P.O. Box still exists? Have a great day and take care.

Fantastic CGI making Brian Cranston, Chris. Your practice on Ryotaro's arm really had me April fooled! ...Is Pete Donaldson real or are you getting too good and a touch schizophrenic?

GREAT JOB LATELY INDEED! Thanks for it. Don't worry too much about Taiwan... maybe something bad was about to happen to you there and you could skip it like that :D It was not mean to happen, that is all. Carry on and try not to think too much about it.

Chris, you have done some amazing work in March. Do whatever you need to do to feel better and be healthier again. I can be patient. Also, sorry to hear about your cancelled trip. I hope you get to try again soon. By the way, awesome celebrity shout out.

Josh Jones

Watched and loved all the videos you posted! I can't wait for the Gyōza challenge to post because I've seen several so I want to see if Natsuki will beat you in this one as well. Hopefully you can get some rest and relaxation before jumping back into the video world.

Yamagata. Screw autocorrect... :-P

Gosh, Chris, do take care! I was actually wondering how you are managing all these things and was not all too surprised to hear you are a bit.... Tired, let's say, but nonetheless shocked. About the passport - these (fucking annoying) things happen to everyone. I usually experience them when I am overworked... And, man, STOP STUFFING YOURSELF FOR THE SAKE OF VIDEOS. We wanna enjoy a few more videos and not seeing you die from a heart attack due to high cholesterol or choking on an elephant's Gyōza. Didn't you just talk with Pete about how not overeating keeps Japanese people so healthy...? Hrm, hrm. Find the conflict... 8-) Maybe you should go back to Hokkaido and do another trip through the Yamashita forest - without the camera... ;) Seriously, take it easy and feel hugged! All the best!

Hey Jan, In Minute 1:53 Chris mentions the video will come out this week, if I got that right. ;)

I love what you do, Chris. Good job and keep it up. Congrats on Brian's shoutout, how amazing. Sorry to hear about your travels. The hard work is paying off, your video production and editing is leveling up so much. I admire your talent!

Wait a minute...where is the gyoza challenge video? I musta missed that somehow :(

Jan Knoeschke

Reminded me of when I moved to Japan: I came on a tourist visa and wanted to change that to a spouse visa here (with my wife waiting for me in Japan). Unfortunately the airline wouldn't let me check in without a return ticket within my visa's validity period of 90 days. Fortunately I was able to solve the issue by purchasing an additional, awfully expensive ticket. As for the stress, while I had an incredible busy week, getting up at five in the morning and coming back at nine at night, it really helped to go out and enjoy the cherry blossoms this weekend. Since they will soon open in Sendai too, I think this might help you to relax and rejuvenate a little.

M8, being a YT star is a double edged sword, you get to go to places most of us never see. Meet awesome people and create amazing videos. But the content is never enough, we always want more. And we always will. Take time for yourself, play some video games, watch some movies and tv's shows, or travel with a valid passport to a destination you have wanted to see. You do you by taking care of yourself. We will wait.

Wow, that really does suck, but I've greatly enjoyed the content this month and the podcasts. Keep it up! (but maybe at sustainable rate)

Leighton Luckey

Dam that sucks. It can happen to anyone. Who ever remembers to check their passport renewal date! I bet that happens to thousands of people every day. Cheer yourself up and watch 'Isle of Dogs', staring your new best friend Mr Cranston no less. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fx1-RXrKKBk

Simon

Take time for yourself, Chris. As much as we love your videos, I think we know you're an actual person that sometimes needs a break every now and then, and we wouldn't fault you for taking time off. Mental and physical health are important!

Lisa

ughhhhh that's total balls chris. this isn't exactly the same, but I have a stupid passport story if it makes you feel any better. I thought I'd lost my passport. I never lose anything, and was kicking myself. turned the house upside down. thought I might have had it stashed in an old coat that got donated, rang up all the op shops to pester numerous old ladies. and eventually went through all the damn forms and procedures to have a new one made. $400 later, my new one arrives. I go to scan it to have a back-up copy....... and find my old passport sitting in the scanner bed. thank you for all the amazing content, it's been so great to watch/listen. look after yourself, and hope you get to use your shiny new passport soon!

Janelle

Pete looks about as I expected, given his voice. On that note, the podcast is growing on me. Keep it up, Chris.

Michael Moore

It happens. My husband and I were going back to Sweden to see my parents, and he realized the day before that his passport was expired. I hope you get your holiday soon!

For Fucks Sake! To not be able to go on a long awaited holiday really sucks...is there any way for you to renew your passport in Japan or do you have to go back to the UK to do so? I think that while all of us really enjoy your travel videos, we don't mind you sitting on your sofa talking to yourself either. Just look out for yourself, we require you to provide us with high-quality videos for many more years! ;D

Oof. I’m so sorry that happened. That is just...crap. But thank you for all the content, it’s all brilliant and it’s always an event when we boot up the Xbox to watch a new video! (I also do the wink thing...it’s involuntary for me as well😉) Feel better love!

That really sucks! Sad sad sad! That has happened to me and was devastated!

Amaiaisuru

Bloody hell Chris! What an absolute nightmare! Once you get your new passport book a well-deserved holiday to celebrate ;)

Thistlevixen

When you guys go to Hawaii for a luau, while eating poi, you'll be eating with Ryotaro

Aww no! What a horrible way to end months of looking forward to something! Just take good care of yourself going forward, enjoy the spring sunshine and whatnot - being outside is supposedly good for your mood whereas sleep deprivation is crap. I wish you a nicely balanced spring and summer! And then we'll see what interesting videos and podcasts ensue ;)

Nynke de Haas

Atleast he's spot on with the clue "someone not connected with Japan" because I don't remember any Japan related to Bryan and I can't see him bingeing jvolgs. We need to check out more of Pete's show.

Ah, I remember the good old days of binge watch Breaking Bad. Was always impressed Bryan Cranston went from the Malcolm in the Middle dad to emotionally intense drug lord. Awesome actor! 👍 As much as I love the travel vids I think it’s great when you do local, more personalized stuff as well. It can be more entertaining even.

Laura Beaumont

Heisenberg! Actual dynamite! Aye my John Cena shout was well off, mind you we wouldn’t have been able to see him anyway.

Oh man, you say that now, but they both looked sick and they were only partway through it.

Argus9 (Jonathan)

I'd looove that gyouza so much.

Nari Kim

I can imagine how you felt about the passport thing. I'd have been absolutely gutted. Speaking of guts, that's a frighteningly large gyouza.

Sheepless

Oh man, sorry to hear you ended up missing your holiday 🙁 You should do another hate comment video to recover the lost costs 😅👍 You’ve had your passport almost 10 years? I bet the photograph looks well out of date? haha

Matthew

Well shit ... wouldn't have thought of Bryan Cranston .... get on that Neil Patrick Harris plug though!

Thanks for your openness Chris - you need to make sure you look after yourself as much as you pay attention to the channel. A dearth of content means nothing if it ensures that you're happy and well. Thanks for an awesome month of videos but please make sure you don't forget about yourself too!

Lewis

Yeah! Can’t wait to see it! Pete said it was awesome.

Abroad in Japan

An hour!

Abroad in Japan

What's the running time of Natsuki the Movie?

Wow! That's incredible! Was he promoting Isle of Dogs with Pete?

Man, we were way off during the Q&A. Good for you!
