Natsuki Q&A | Patreon Vlog | Hokkaido Road Trip | Ryotaro's Mountain Escape

Hey guys!
So "Operation Ridiculous Amounts of Content" is now in full swing!

This week alone we have three videos (two of which have been released), a new Podcast episode on Wednesday discussing about Love Hotels and a Patreon Vlog with Natsuki Q&A.

(Notice how I've highlighted them in bold to emphasise all the awesome content. Also notice how I've put this in italics to emphasise this).

First we had 48 Hours in Hokkaido | Road Trip Japan, where myself and my American sidekick (Chris Okano) drove from Hakodate in south Hokkaido, north to Hell's Valley and into central Hokkaido. To watch the video, is to basically join us on our trip, from the peaks of mountains, to the highways of Hokkaido.

Then today we had Escaping to a Secluded Japanese Mountain in which myself Ryotaro travel to a sacred mountain where we undertake a detoxification process in the snow (that sounds dodgy), eat at one of the regions most acclaimed restaurants and make fun of Ryotaro with his new incredible nickname.

Last week I put your questions to Natsuki for the Patreon Vlog Q&A, while we were filming in Tokyo for the upcoming Monster Gyoza video and a Day in  My Life Japan sequel. We didn't have time for all the questions, but we'll be seeing him again in April, so if your question didn't feature the opportunity will arise again next month!

AND finally the new Podcast will be out in about five hours (from me posting this!). This week we discuss Japan's Love Hotel culture, including some awkward stories and positions I've found myself in over the years! Be sure to check it out!

That's all for now guys! Plenty to keep you busy until the Monster Gyoza video with Natsuki later this week!

And if you have any comments or questions about any of these videos or any ideas for a Ryotaro nickname, let us know below!

Thanks everyone!
Chris

Oh wow that was so adorable and heartwarming <3 And having even more of your awesome Japanese friends on the channel would be a-MAZING!! I can't wait :D

I think Natsuki was just translating from 花火 when he said fire flower. It's a more poetic name IMO.

I live In Grand Prairie Texas, and I couldn't agree more. Everyone thinks were still like the old west movies. Guns a Blazing wearing cowboys.

Derek A

Hello from San Antonio, Texas. Natsuki, if you ever want to come to Texas and see the Rodeo, come to San Antonio during the Stock Show and Rodeo. It is three weeks of rodeo, live music, and the famous Cowboy Breakfast that takes place in February. It is a bit humorous, when I interviewed for the JET program back in January I told the interviewers I didn't know what I would bring with me from Texas to share with students in Japan because I did not want Japanese people to think we were all cowboys, lol.

What is his band called?

Charles House

花 = flower 火 = fire 花火 = fire flower = fire works

The production quality on these videos was *incredible*, while still keeping the charm and humor that brought my wife and me to the channel - hats off to you, Chris! Out of curiosity, who does the music you used for the road trip video? - From A Great American

Haha I’m sold

So good getting to know you both more! cant wait to see you get through both gyoza and win!

Loving all the quality content Chris!

Argus9 (Jonathan)

I do miss more regular uploads, but this week has been CHRISmas all over again, and with the quality of the content it is well worth the wait.

I think you just found your story for Natsuki The Movie 2. Natsuki goes to Texas, eats a big steak, tries his hand at rodeo (and maybe falls off, hurts his head and has to go to an acupuncturist).

Harry Bonyari

TKYOSAM is the name of the Youtuber - although he had to remove the video for privacy reasons! And as for the song I'm not actually sure. I'll have to get back to you on that one.

Thanks Ray - it would have been nice to have interviewed him more to be honest, but I think in the short time we were with him, we were still able to catch a glimpse of what makes his life so fulfilling.

Hey Chris, so I enjoy doing long treks in the wilderness, sometimes by myself (yes with the bears). And your experience on the mountain, being in the moment, silent, and just disconnecting, such a wonderful feeling. I can totally relate. And man, that snow was so beautiful! I must say, my favorite part was when you interviewed Takeharu Kato, about him leaving Tokyo and no longer being worried about the future and being in the moment. I loved that part. You're able to capture these beautiful moments, good on ya!

I find myself humming your podcast song the whole day after listening to it. Catchy tune that is. The podcast isn't too bad either ;) (Playing it cool after specifically moving my work around so I could do designs while listening to it, and doing video editing afterwards)

I'm loving the podcasts! two quick questions. What was the name of the Japanese YouTuber in the UK that you mentioned? I tried googling her but i clearly wasn't getting the spelling right. Also whats the music that plays at the end of the podcast? it goes on for ages and its starting to get stuck in my head!

It’s normally perfect - it’s just last week we had to use an office in Tokyo as we were filming down there and it was horrific. We’ve had around 18 live shows now and only three have had any issues!

I hope the internet for the livestream improves too. It was almost as bad as Australian internet, looking forward to the monster gyoza challenge. Seeing people eat gross food convinces me to eat ( relatively) healthy. haha

Ha! Y'all come on over and we'll make your steak and cow wrangling dreams come true.

Leighton Luckey

I’m planning one now - my weight has been disastrous the last few months and my health not particularly great, so this weight loss series will be a lot more epic in scale.

Abroad in Japan

chris, your hair looks fantastic in this video if you don't mind me saying!

Will you do another weight loss series after the Monster Gyoza video? Those were fun :)

rafa UGM

Haha yes Ryotaro's become more sophisticated in his plotting - he no longer explicitly mentions he's planning to kill me. He just gets on with it.

Are you having makeup on in the Risottero video?

wonderful content so far man, podcast have been great while driving to work! cant wait for more!

The mountain escape video was very cool. I'd like to have heard more from Takeharu Kato, your guide, who managed to be amusing with very few words. But, as I commented on youtube, the whole thing seems like another elaborate murder plot by Ryotaro: poisonous fish, dressing you up as "metaphorically dead", a bear-infested mountain where you're not allowed to call for help, and basically the hotel from the Shining, but in Japan.

Sheepless

Awesome! I love your podcasts! They're so fun to listen to while I'm at work!

Mr Risotto sounds like a good nickname to me

David

Anxiously waiting for that movie release!
