Patreon Vlog | Natsuki Q&A

Well hello there everyone!

First off, I hope you've all had a great weekend wherever you may be in the world.

So last week you sent in your questions to Natsuki and you can now check out his response in the vlog, complete with a surprise Backstreet Boys rendition that undeniably steals the show! (Video above and podcast audio version below)

This past week I've been furiously editing away at the two recent video releases; the first was "Japanese Nightlife Etiquette for Beginners" which went down pretty well. It made me realise that there's definitely demand for etiquette based videos, so it's something worth looking into doing more of.

And for those of you who enjoy seeing Ryotaro's cheeky face on screen, this week was a dream come true as he also appeared in the second video when he took us on a trip to eat a disturbing quantity of meat. It honestly felt like another one of his devious schemes to kill me through high cholesterol, but the video proved popular featuring on Youtube trending in the UK and the US apparently. If you haven't watched them already be sure to check them out!

(I won't lie, I haven't a clue how trending works on Youtube but it seems to bring in an extra few thousand views when it happens so I won't complain).

Right now I'm currently editing a video announcing the merchandise to everyone on Youtube and shooting scenes in Osaka and Tokyo for a video titled "How Difficult is Travelling Japan without Japanese" that I think will go down well without a lot of viewers and folks who are a bit intimidated at the idea of visiting Japan without any knowledge of the language.

It dawned on me today that the next two months will likely be the busiest of this year so far; I've been filming with Ryotaro recently with numerous videos, there's also trip to Sapporo planned and then we've also got several videos related to Natsuki the movie, to release in advance of the main event in December.

I'm also going to be turning to you guys in the coming weeks to get a feel for what you'd like to see more of on the channel going forward - particularly next year; as well as taking your requests for specific topics and locations. I realised recently I've neglected west Japan over the years (ie. Osaka/Kyoto/Kobe/Hiroshima) and it'd be awesome to film a travel series in that region - it's top of the list for next year.

Alas, I'm getting carried away with myself. Plenty of time to discuss the limitless opportunities that stand before us later in the week! For now though, it's 2am on Sunday and I should really get some much needed sleep!

Thanks guys and I hope you enjoy the Backstreet Boys on this week's vlog ;)

Come to Vienna, I'll give insider tips!

I'm actually hella impressed with Natsuki singing Backstreet Boys.

In my alcoholic haze I can honestly say that this video has made my day! I'm loving Natsuki's existentialist view on life.

See Natsuki, being open to being approached by Chris has resulted in lots of fun. Foreigners are nice people, just a little different. And differences can be fun. And sometimes, unlikely friendships can result in awesome experiences. Also, you have taught him well, Chris. Eff word is a very useful word to know.

Don't feel bad Natsuki. I'm 25 and I've been too poor my whole life to travel. I'd like to, but sometimes things don't work out the way you want them to. But one day I know I will!

That chocolate rap was hilarious πŸ˜‚

OH MY GOD please do videos of Natsuki singing boy band songs!! Bonus if you beatbox along!! That, my friends, would indeed be larger than life.

Its Wien in german and the japanese word for it sounds exactly like that, just you brittish people must give it a different name 😘

What a nice way to start the week.

Wow, he doesn’t look like he is 44! I though you guys were the same age haha

I'm shock by his age.. HOW ??

Great Q&A. And what a very lovely philosophical moment to end with. Be in the moment!

As a Backstreet Boys fan I'm excited for this video. I also love your etiquette videos, very helpful and entertaining.

I like the idea of a climate shock video. I live in Texas, USA and we have many different climates across the state. It's always difficult while traveling for me when I go somewhere cold when I'm not used to that climate.

I think it would be interesting to see a video (or videos) next year about how people from hotter countries cope with living in colder areas of Japan (Australians living in Aomori, for example) and vice-versa (ie, rather than "culture shock", a video on "climate shock"). I think that it's a good idea because - as you've said in the past - when applying for ALT companies like JET, you can list your preferences but then be put in a completely different area; and I think a lot of people who watch your videos would be curious about applying for ALT programs at some point.

I love how enthusiastic he is about Guitar, it was a great moment in the lives of several of my friends. PS, Backstreet boys, hell yeah!

Natsuki never fails to lift me up with his enthusiastic energy and awesome views on life. Thanks guys! 🎈

yup yup I thought like 35, 38 max honestly.

"Vienna: beautiful town." haha gosh if I didn't know Natsuki lived in the country, it would simply seem like a very Japanese thing to say XD

If you should come to Vienna (Wien) a meetup would be more than great! Awesome video :)

So much fun!

Always fun to spend time with Natsuki. FYI, "Wien" (pronounced like 'veen') is the German spelling of Vienna. It sounded like that's what he was saying.

Leo

Really fun video :)

Now I wish I'd asked Natsuki for tips on hair care.

Great Q&A, really looking forward to the Natsuki movie this December. I really like the etiquette and cultural videos. Historical stuff is great too, but as a person planning to visit, I definitely want to do my best to be as conscientious as possible of customs as possible. I think it's important for the tourism industry in Japan for Westerners to be more sensitive of these differences so the locals are more accepting of foreigners and really invest into the industry. I'm very excited for when I visit!

Who’d a thunk I could listen to the execrable Backstreet Boys and feel a sense of joy?

the day we get a video with both natsuki and ryotaro in it, is the day every viewer's life peaks

I genuinely thought Natsuki was in his early 30s...

that was great!!

viewers from Moscow (if there are any besides me), let's get together and greet Natsuki when he visits!

Alexander

i am truly excited

here we go :D!!
