Hey guys,
I hope you've all had a fantastic week so far!
So for this week's Patreon vlog, we had a Q&A with Ryotaro, with questions sent in by you all, enabling us to shed some light on the mysterious character with a British accent, who frequently pops up in the videos!
Also! This week for the first time, as well as being able to watch the video, for those of you are travelling and would rather listen to it instead, you can download the audio in a Podcast style format (attached to this post).
Given that we're talking for about 15 minutes, it's the perfect thing to listen to whilst doing laundry, driving around or sitting on the bus. The quality isn't actual Podcast quality as we recorded from the camera in a tiny hotel room, but it's decent enough to listen to and enjoy!
If this format proves popular with you guys, then all future Patreon vlogs will be available as audio downloads, for those of you frequently commuting without the time to stare at a screen, or wanting something to listen to whilst nodding off at night. Let me know what you think!
In other news, the Sapporo video was received well by almost everyone - everyone of course, except Youtube, who demonetised it YET AGAIN. (You may have seen this already as I posted the photo to FB/Twitter a few hours ago).
North Korea as a topic, I can understand - but Natsuki and I bumbling around Sapporo?! Seriously. It's deeply troubling. This is the first time I've actually felt quite uncomfortable and had trouble using my usual sarcasm and wit when discussing the situation. My faith and trust in Youtube is rapidly eroding, which is something I really don't want to happen.
I love Youtube - I think it's an incredible platform and as well as changing my life personally, it's of great benefit to society as a whole, for people who want to learn something or be entertained on any topic their heart desires. It's such an amazing resource thanks to the thousand of creators who dedicate their life to it and the quality of the platform itself.
But when the organisation you trust and love snatches away your week's wages - without warning - for seemingly no reason, there's definitely an underlying sense of betrayal.
Worse still, if we didn't have Patreon, it would genuinely be starting to look like the end for the channel. And whilst we're lucky to be in a good position thanks to you all and your support, I defintiely feel sorry for the many smaller creators out there who are going to suffer as a consequence of these extreme actions.
S onow more than ever, again guys, I just want to take the time to say, a huge thank you to all of you for supporting the Abroad in Japan channel, on behalf of myself, Natsuki and Ryotaro. Thank you to all of you for allowing us to do the thing we love, by showing you life inside Japan!
Chris
