Hey guys!
First off, apologies about the patch of radio silence over the last couple of weeks - for the first time in my 4.5 years of living in Japan, I had the exciting experience of being pretty ill. Thankfully I've now more or less recovered and it's time to get back on schedule.
The Ted Talk went pretty well - as you can see from the above photo, I made sure to plug the channel every step of the way! The theme of the talk was encouraging people to consider vlogging as a career path and as a tool for improving Tohoku's reputation following on from the tsunami/Fukushima disaster. I tried to show everyone how easy it is to get into vlogging, and the real effect it can have with some viewer stories along the way. Word on the street is the video will be up on Tedx in May/June, and I'll be sure to keep you posted on it.
Natsuki and I are making our final arrangements for our trip to the UK/France in May. There's still tons to sort out schedule wise and I'd be lying if I said 'Natsuki: The Movie' was all planned and ready to go. But I know we'll shoot something that, at the very least, followers of the channel will certainly enjoy. As well as the movie, we plan to make a react series, i.e. "Japanese Thoughts on British Japanese Food" and "Japanese Thoughts on London", which should be hilarious and they'll be up on Youtube shortly after our trip. I'm also still really keen to hear what you guys want to see though, and I'll be doing a questionnaire later this week to get ideas.
Today, we've got a new video out - "Inside Japan's Robot Hotel" - lots of people on Twitter were messaging me to go and film it recently, so I headed to Tokyo last week to film it and see it firsthand. It was certainly impressive, if not somewhat overhyped, but the trip was definitely worth while. You can check the video out here: https://youtu.be/P9DBb-Eng20
In terms of upcoming videos, we've got a new video with Ryotaro, where we went to Fox Village and then nearly died on a mountain, we've got the Learning Japanese video for you guys on Patreon, the video where Natsuki and I open your packages, which will be on Abroad Perspective channel, and of course, the next video in the Tohoku 365 series, where we cover the local food of Aomori - featuring cameos from Ryotaro AND Natsuki - albeit not together. (To have them both together would collapse reality).
There's also some new t-shirt designs in the works which I'll put into the upcoming questionnaire - as there'll likely be 4 or 5 designs and naturally, we want to make sure we're producing the most popular ones!
If you have any questions about the above or anything else though folks, please do fire away below!
For now though, it's great to be getting back to work!
