3 PLACES TO MEET PEOPLE WHILE TRAVELING JAPAN | Blog #4

Hey everyone!

I hope you're all having a terrific weekend so far!

Following on from last week's article talking about personal experiences encountering wonderful people through my travels in Japan, this week I wanted to give you a few ideas on where to meet people if you're ever traveling the country.

Tomorrow, I'll be posting the times for the Abroad in Japan live video, which will be held in the next 10 days, and you'll be able to vote for the most convenient time/day, as well as submit your question. I'll also be giving a few exciting updates to you all!

In the mean time, if you have any tips or advice on good ways of meeting and befriending the locals on your travels,  please share with us in the comments section below.

じゃあ、明日ね! Chris

Rather than tinder, there is an app called 'Hello Talk' it's a language exchange app. You can select the options to find language learners near you, so if you are living/visiting Japan, you can use this app to find people who already speak English/are learning English and can teach you Japanese as well as hang out. I used this app whilst I was in app and met many great people thanks to it! It's also not dating inclined, like tinder is.

I never wanted to even go near Tinder haha my best friend is newly single and she is getting so many creeps. I am not single so I will not be going near it haha

Wow, Tinder, huh? I'm like you; I had the same impression of the app as basically a one-night-stand generator. But perhaps in Japan, people use it more responsibly? (The footer of this PDF is the previous blog's title?)

Hanging out in a pub worked well for me. Went there at the last evening for couple of beers and met lots of Japanese. We partied until closing time and almost missed our flight back home.

It would be exciting to stumble across Chris :D

I can't yet speak Japanese so my encounters will be more grunting, awkward laughs and indecipherable gesturing I'm sure.

All my accommodation for my trip to Japan next year is with Airbnb. I do plan to spend my evenings checking out the night life in all the cities I am visiting in. It would be good to meet some locals and will defo drop in the hub. I am not sure about using Tinder even in the UK let alone in Japan, but will keep open minded when it gets closer to the time of my stay. Thanks for the great article Chris.

Oh right, no worries. Thanks!

Yvette

Probably not, I have to go on the internet and download them to my google drive app on my iPhone

I never had trouble meeting people on my travels! I remember my partner laughing about it because every time he left me alone to use the bathroom or try on some clothes he would come out to see me talking to a complete stranger! America was very good for meeting new people, especially Santa Monica Pier and Las Vegas~~

I can never open the blogs from this app on my phone, is it just me?

Yvette

Don't forget Pokemon Go! I've met more cool people doing that then I ever would on Tinder.

Do you ever meet your fans over there Chris? :P
