With a new engine comes new possibilities! All our ingame colors now utilize a sprite shader that separates each frame into three RGB channels:
Green Channel: Flat colors
Blue Channel: Highlights
Red Channel: Shadows
Each flat color is then given it's own green value between 0-255, letting us easily find that value and change it on the fly with little to no impact on performance. This greatly reduces frame bloat our game was going to have with the old method, and allows us to essentially make as many pallet swaps of players and enemies as we please!
