What is your favourite genre?

Just out of curiosity, what is everyone's favourite genre for VNs? After When starts Collide, I'm probably going to be moving back into fantasy for a while, which I know tends to be the overall preference for the community. But 'fantasy' is really broad.

What is everyone's favourite genre?

I agree with all of the above a good story and good characters will outweigh any genre preference, as I'm not typically a science fiction fan or a urban fantasy fan, but I loved changeling and then GS just because of the story and characters and solid world-building.

Honestly I loved the story in the last two VNs you’ve made. Both were outside what I was normally drawn to, but as I played I found both were amazing and was honestly sad when I realized I had exhausted all routes. I admit that usually when I play a game I find a couple favorites and don’t finish the rest, but your characters are so compelling and interesting that I have to see everything about them. Not to mention how bits and pieces of the story is woven throughout each route so that more of the world is revealed the more you play and I love it so much. Essentially, I think I would love any setting that you would create in. Excited to see what’s next!

I couldn't decide between Medieval Fantasy and Urban Fantasy/Slice of Life. XD But in the end, the real answer is "whatever grabs my attention and doesn't let it get away".

I don’t care about the genre. If the story is good and the characters are interesting I’ll play anything. I tend to look at historical or medieval before the others and urban fantasy last. Good story trumps all that. If I went with just fantasy, I would have never found GS.

I was debating between science fantasy and urban fantasy, but honestly the genres don't grab me as much as a compelling storyline does. A solid "you live a normal life except for this trait or ability which puts you outside the norm. Here's your life adapting to that" story will grab me and suck me in every time.
