15/07/2023 Patreon Devlog (Gilded Shadows)
Added 2023-07-15 02:27:23 +0000 UTCHallo! Time for the GS devlog for this week.
This Week's Summary:
- Finished up the flowcharts
- And that's it. Rofl
- Okay, I coded a few sprite expressions too.
The Ramble:
Short update this week. All I did was flowcharts. All week.
But I did get all the flowcharts coded and one test run done. So usually I don't test every variation myself - I let beta testers check if everything is unlockable. But usually I do one run through each chapter to make sure that, at a glance, everything is working. And that all the dimensions are correct and nothing is cut off weirdly, etc.
So Yuu's flowchart is now fully unlocked.
I did technically code in some sprite expressions but I did not get far and it's really not enough to include but I am anyway.
There are nearly 1900 flowchart variables. That means you have nearly 1900 individual flowchart pieces to unlock through the game. 1900 scenes, choices, branches, and variations I felt were worth noting on the flowchart.
There are more in the game that are only noted by the use of a dashed outline on the modules. Sometimes the variations were just too small or unimportant plot-wise to make note of more overtly than that.
But yeah. That's a lot of thingies...
Sneak Peeks:
A functional flowchart.

Upcoming Week:
Sprite Expressions. I did start these but there's a long way to go. I will potentially be doing some drawing this week too.
Coding sprite expressions is incredibly tedious. It literally gives me migraines so I can only do it for a few hours a day before I really have to stop. So I often in the past, took time to maybe draft other routes and such while I was getting the expressions coded.
I don't have other routes to draft...this time.
So I may do some sprite drawing - I do have a few side characters and additional variations to work on. I may work on the lore book or the art book. I don't know. I have other things I can do but what I actually do probably depends a lot on whether any breaks from sprite expressions are due to me being in pain.
I basically find that while I code expressions, my face scrunches up. π <-- like this. And it's like that for hours on end. I try to keep it relaxed but I always realise that it's scrunched up...when I end up with a tension headache from being tensed up for so long.
We'll see if I finally can master the art of coding expressions without doing silly things with my face. β°(*Β°β½Β°*)β―
So yeah. Flowcharts are ticked off the list and now it's moving to the next big thing which is sprite expressions. See ya next time!
