Hallo! Time for this week's dev log!

I'm not done writing yet but I do have some fun things to share. LIKE THIS:

Less than 1% remaining until I hit my target word count for the entire game! =OO

This is a threshold I have been waiting for...FOR A WHILE. LoL It's so weird to see that yellow square under 1%.

And this! This is the first time I've gotten my "per day" word count below 1000 words! So basically when I want to complete something by a specific date, my spreadsheet tracks how many days I have left and uses my current word count as well as my goal to calculate how many words I have to write per day to hit the goal by the deadline.

Tracking this helps me set my daily word count goals and make sure that I'm on target to hit the deadline.

The "per day" amount is pretty fluid because my word count and remaining days are constantly changing, so this number goes up and down a lot (it goes up over the weekends when I'm not writing, then will go down again gradually over the week).

It usually starts at 1500 words per day and will decrease over the course of the route as I exceed my daily targets. I like getting it below 1000 words a day because that's just a comforting number.

If I see I only have to write 700 or 800 words a day to reach my goal, it makes me happy because those numbers are *easy* to reach.

So it's always a big deal for me when I can get it comfortably below 1000 words. (I know this probably doesn't mean much to all of you but it's important to me). (￣y▽,￣)╭

Anyway, Yuu's route is currently just under 90% complete!

I am about halfway through Ch13 right now. For those who have been reading my updates for a while you know that Ch13 is basically the climax chapter in the Gilded Shadows routes.

There's often a lot going on in these chapters and it just takes a bit more effort to 'choreograph' the chapter content.

So sometimes they take a bit more time to write since I spend a lot more time staring at the screen thinking about the progression of events. ┑(￣Д ￣)┍

I basically have to write one more 'actiony' sequence, a bad ending, and the chapter wrap-up and I'll be done with this chapter and finally into Ch14.

Basically I'm very close to done with the draft for this route.

I did take a pause and go back to edit chapter 1 of Yuu's route. There was no reason for this other than I'm going to start editing soon anyway I needed to take a pause from drafting because my brain was going to implode.

I'll probably still take another pass at it when I start editing for real anyway.

I've also been starting to note down CG moments in the script so I can start planning those out. Kind of a minor thing, but still important.

Upcoming Week:

Okayyyyy. The upcoming week I hope to wrap up the rough draft for Yuu's route.

Then I will immediately jump into the revision stage. I do feel like Yuu's route will need a lot of editing to flesh things out. It's the first route in a while that I haven't been stressing out about it being too long - it's going to be well under the threshold of the longest route, which is waaaaaay better for me than it verging on too long and gives me a lot of space to flesh out the plot and dialogue and character moments.

I hate having to fight a wordy route for length so this is way more comfortable for me. It makes editing much more fun when I'm not having to be as careful with the word count.

The branching in this route is a little low so most likely I'll be adding a lot of variations and maybe additional choices when I start editing. 💪

But that's still a week away. First....finishing with the draft!
