Hey everyone! I realised that I forgot my devlog for Patreon this week. 😱😱

This happens sometimes on weeks when I also update Kickstarter because my brain just ticks the "post update" box and forgets I have to do two updates on those weeks. Sorry about that.

Anyway, I wanted to post a quick little check in for everyone.

Obviously still revising Reuben's route. 

I edited chapter 7, chapter 8, and started on chapter 9….

Then went back to re-revise parts of chapter 8.

One thing about writing a mystery/crime situation that gets solved is that the order the characters find the pieces of the puzzle can have a huge impact on how they piece the puzzle together. And sometimes what happens is I realise that the characters have, say, pieces 3, 6, 8, and 9.

So they're missing pieces 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, and 10.

When writing, you look at the pieces they have and consider what pieces they can logically work out based on what they have.

Sometimes I realise something like "Hey, it makes the most sense for them to find/figure out piece 4 earlier than where I have them finding it."

So I shift things around to make that happen and then as I'm writing, realise that once they have piece 4, they will very naturally figure out piece 5, but now it makes more sense that piece 6 gets figured out later on.

And I go from a configuration of 3, 6, 8, and 9, to a configuration of 3, 4, 5, and 9.

That's actually a lot of re-writing, re-ordering, and stuff - which is what is happening right now.

I realised I was withholding a piece of information from the characters that it makes way more sense for them to have already obtained in chapter 8. But this allows me to push certain other information out of chapter 8 and into later chapters.

I don't have to totally rewrite all the things - it's more like it requires a lot of smaller dialogue changes across a large section so I have to find all those little areas that need tweaking.

So yeah - it's just really typical writing revision stuff. That is what I'm doing.
