Hi everyone! Time for this week's update.

This Week's Summary:

• Worked on Reuben's route (up to ch 10)

The Ramble:

The only thing I did this week was WRITE. LoL

Reuben's route is just over 85000 words and is around 75% drafted at the moment. I'm about mid-way through Chapter 10 right now.

Magnus has made his second appearance in the route and, as always, I love writing him. I feel like he's such a multi-faceted character and we are seeing a slightly different side to him in his scenes.

I had to pause in writing and write up a new version of the case timeline (Morgan is consulting with Reuben on a series of murders that have gone unsolved). As I've written, the case has shifted just slightly. And I needed to form a cohesive flow of what has happened.

I know that, on edits, I'll need to smooth out their discovery of things and slow piecing together of what is going on.

I do not think I'm good at writing mysteries/detective stories. I can write mystery elements into a story but when the entire story revolves around solving the mystery, it's a bit different. Anyway, I think it'll be easier to smooth that out once the entire flow of events is drafted and I can see how it all actually plays out.

I'll then be able to revise it to make it flow a bit more logically as the characters uncover all the details.

Another milestone I hit this week is that the overall uncoded script word count is over 950,000 words. Of course, I've mentioned multiple times that the coded word count is MUCH shorter than the uncoded word count.

I won't know the exact coded word count until I actually code Reuben's route. But my *estimate* for that is edging toward 900,000 words.

Sneak Peeks:

I don't remember if I showed off this background? A lot of Reuben's route happens in his house and I wanted to create a messy home office for him.

I think the safe and the hat are a hilarious addition.

When I saw the hat in the sketch I knew it didn't really fit in the sense that...there's no reason for a hat stand in a home office and Reuben never wears a hat like this in the game. But it was too funny to pass up so I ended up letting it stay in.

I may need to edit out that old school AC unit that I only noticed after the fact though. 🤣

Upcoming Week:

Obviously this upcoming week, I will be working on Reuben's route. I expect to finish Chapter 10 and hopefully finish Chapter 11 as well.

I really didn't expect to be ¾ of the way through the draft so soon after Quill's route. But that's actually great news. As I mentioned, I won't be doing too much *but* drafting until it's done. And then I will be revising.
