This Week's Summary:
- Completed and coded Aritz's sprite
- Completed and coded Vic's sprite
- Coded in Neel's sprite
- Coded sprite expressions up to part of ch 8
- Started building the flowchart templates
The Ramble:
Had some rough days this week (mostly due to insomnia and being ultra dead during the work day).
But I powered through (mostly).
This week I completed and coded the art for Artiz' sprite, Vic's sprite, and I coded in Neel's sprite (though his artwork was already complete.)
I coded sprite expressions up to ch 8 including a very big group scene. These always take much longer to code because there are a lot of characters popping in and out at different positions and there's just more consideration needed for that aspect.
I also went through a fairly emotional scene involving Rory. And I did some editing of it as I went along, which is pretty standard. Since I have to go line-by-line through the script to figure out what expressions to use, it does mean re-reading everything.
And sometimes I see continuity issues I didn't see before or other errors that have been overlooked.
Finally, I have been setting up my flowchart templates.
So for those who are new and don't know the process there, I usually make a template in a flowchart software first so I can figure out how all the connecting points to various scenes will need to work. And then I later build the in-game images from a set of templates that I have.
I've realised that a lot of Quill's branching comes from the fact that he has a lot more personality locked choices than the other characters. I don't really know why this happened. He has fewer small personality branches but a lot of the three-choice situations that involve a locked choice.
Sneak Peeks:
Finally, I have some proper screen caps to show you all.
(Locke, Quill, Vale, Aritz)
A familiar face...
Uh oh. Faces are warming up! Unfair smiles are happening. =O Sound the alarms!
Upcoming Week:
Just continuing with sprite expressions. As I said, it can be difficult to predict how long this takes. It's very tedious and I have to take breaks from it because I start making more mistakes as time goes on. So sometimes it is a slow process and sometimes it goes quickly.
I have started on chapter 8 and will just be continuing from there.
