This Week's Summary:
- Finished and coded 2 Caleb CGs
- Finished 2 Magnus CGs
- Finished Quill's detailed summary
- Read-through and edited Reuben's route summary
- Worked on Reuben's first chapter
The Ramble:
So this week I did some art and I did some writing...
So the CG story first. I finished a partially completed CG for Caleb, then started and finished another CG for Caleb. And I coded both of those.
Then I started and finished two of Magnus' CGs. I haven't coded either of them but one of them is set up for coding and the other. . .I realised I put the wrong background in and had to fix that. So it's not set up for coding yet. But I'll get it done tomorrow probably.
As I mentioned last week, I expected to slow down a little on CGs. Most of the ones I did last week were ones I'd either sketched out already or else had a really clear mental image for. Or I'd already found my references for and set up the composition.
This weeks CGs all needed planning, references, etc. That took time of course. I also really want to be wary of overworking my hand so at the first sign of pain, I am stopping and taking a break from drawing.
While not drawing I worked on writing. I wrote my extended summary for Quill's route. This is an 11 or so page summary of events. I will be extending this one more time by breaking the summary into 14 chapters, then writing a summary of the individual scenes in the chapters. This is the type of guide I've given myself to start each route with.
I don't always follow the guide, and I often have to add or delete or move content around. But having a guide from the start is really helpful to avoid writer's block.
I also took another look at Reuben's route. I forgot I'd actually started his first chapter already. So...yeah. That was a pleasant surprise. I did a little writing in his first chapter and I also just went through his synopsis to make any edits that I felt like I needed. Often when I revisit things I planned months prior, I always find myself wanting to change things. And Reuben's route is no different.
I'll do the same thing with Yuu's route probably in the upcoming week. And I'll also get Quill's full synopsis written up.
Yeah, so overall this week was a little bit of drawing and a little bit of writing and that's kind of it.
Sneak Peeks and Previews:

Upcoming Week:
I will be working on CGs and maybe some writing.
CGs are just under 50% complete. I have 24 of 51 I think?
So I'll be continuing. I'm probably going to work on Jack, Caissa, or Lance CGs. Just because right now, they have less than anyone else. And it makes my spreadsheet look weird. So...LoL
CGs are kind of weird. I can start one and hate the sketch and fiddle with it for ages and feel like it's just not going to get better. I slap colour on it and render it and suddenly I love it.
And the opposite happens as well - which is so frustrating. I sketch it, I love it, I check it in all directions and think it looks great. I slap colours on and render it....
And suddenly it looks weird and I don't know why and the characters look slightly off and I have no idea how to fix it - plus it's done so 'fixing' would mean re-doing it. It's so frustrating.
In the end, like many artists, I hate all my art after at least some time passes. So. . .I don't know. The CG process is weird and annoying at times.
But I'll continue working on them and doing my best with them.
