The daughter was asking her father a lot of questions about the future.
Every now and then, I would hear a conversation that made me stop and think.
"When I'm a great-grandmother, will you still have a dad?"
"Oh, I guess I'll be a really old grandfather."
"Thank you, dad, for marrying mom."
"You're welcome."
While the father was paying the bill, she ladlefully poured the remaining soup into a bowl, and drank it all up, holding the large bowl in both hands.
I was happy to see that moment in the life of that father and daughter overlapped with the moment I had just wandered into the udon restaurant.
