Is the UCB guy Jason is thinking of Mike McLendon? I worked for his franchise in OKC. Let me just say, as an improviser who never made the move to LA and 10 year Dinner Detective actor, it felt validating to hear it mentioned. The show includes a ton of crowd work so sometimes it feels like performing at a theme park.
