As planes got better phones and even wifi, the appeal of the shorter flights for business customers decreased killing the market.

Pilot Pete’s is a pair plane themed restaurant at the tiny Schaumburg airport. Known for their chicken fingers,that some argue they stole the recipe from The Village tavern up the street, and for doing a Holiday Santa meet and greet where Santa comes in via a helicopter.

2025-03-12 21:41:47 +0000 UTCFor anyone who's not sure. The Concorde has a lot of problems that eventually forced them to stop being used at all. 1. They are very loud to anyone on the ground. The sonic boom is massive so they can only fly over the ocean at supersonic speeds. 2. The Concorde was designed to be very narrow in order to go supersonic so it couldn't hold many passengers. 3. It takes a lot of fuel to go supersonic, so the few tickets available are crazy expensive. With this plus the sound, the only routes that made sense were between mainland Europe and NYC. 3. Going supersonic generates a lot of stress on the aircraft, and all Concorde aircraft had micro fractures that weren't found until one plane crashed. Modern companies are trying to bring back supersonic commercial flight, but they need to create designs that generate smaller supersonic booms with more efficient engines and larger cabins. That is extremely difficult to do, so unlikely to get a Burbank to Orlando supersonic flight anytime soon.
