Yep, there’s been the regular second gates and club 3 eps this month and this week is the return of main feed eps!

There’s a new app the kids are using called AirBuds that seems like it might do the job. With Airbuds, you can create a widget on your phone screen to follow in real-time what your friends are listening too. Works across all music platforms. (Last.FM’s scrobbling on phone isn’t very that easy to manage now)

Yes!!! Thank you!! My son is 9 and he sometimes listens and he heard that song and has been obsessed on figuring out what it was. Thanks again, love you guys you all make my days better.

My mom always tells me a story about how her and my aunt were “playing seahunt” as kids and my aunt broke her collar bone!

Ryan Brodsky

Spectrobes. Not an official theme song but an ancillary YouTube song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARX5iYSYrvw

Does anyone remember the show Scott sang a theme song for? It had a similar sound as the Pokémon theme song. I think it was a Disney thing but I’m not sure. I just cannot remember the episode he brought it up. Thanks! Sorry for the random thought

Daniel De los Palos

Does last.fm still work? Cuz if so that may be the answer to Mike’s quest for Jason’s music stats.

Fiona

Sid Gould just popped up in tonight’s movie, “Scavenger Hunt.”

The Standells are better known in my neck of the woods for the classic song Dirty Water, their ode to the at the time filthy Charles River and Boston. They play it at the end of every Red Sox home game that they win.

Jessy Wheeler

It may be a "meh" park, but the behind-the-scenes story of it could be a multipart series

Jacob

Iol I used to listen to Ole Buttermilk Sky a lot back in the day

I think it's a holdover from the Mid-Atlantic accent adopted by thee-ATE-ah folks in the early-mid 20th century!

The Marineland story brings me back to when my dad showed me the original Piranha, which was largely filmed at Aquarena Springs resort/theme park in San Marcos, TX. The whole movie, he was telling us how great the park was in the 80s when he went as a kid, and the movie shows off a lot of it. So our next family trip we went to Aquarena Springs, which by the mid 2000s had been closed and sold off to Texas State University as a marine life research center. They found some endangered salamander species in the lake and shut down almost everything fun there except the glass bottomed boat tours. I remember a small exhibit about the park in their visitor’s center but that was all that was left. It was one of the first times (along with the closure and demolition of Astroworld) that I saw my dad contemplate his morality, to see something that was such a fun childhood memory for him just simply gone. Anyway, Aquarena Springs might be a good future episode topic. They had a full-on amusement park with live mermaid shows in a submarine theater and a swimming pig.

Oh absolutely

I want a Mike ventriloquist’s doll but only if it has a t-shirt that reads HUNKY DUMMY

Philip E.

I dunno.. all of Mike's suggestions sound great to me!

frysjackett

A tangent about if Grandpa Munster was present at the crucifixion, complete with voices, really is everything I love about this podcast 😂

Brian Delpozo

ATTRACTIVE DUMMY FINAL FOUR!

@NachoHelmet

That and The Good Place (though I’m just now realizing that ended 5 years ago) are the only silly, supernatural half-hours that I can think of who managed to stay on network television more than one season.

Also, shocked that Mike forgot the other major Depp theme park presence is his beloved Mad T Party:

David Ganssle

They're only taking a break from the Main Feed, I believe.

Jonathon Pernisek

I’m so glad Sea Hunt was discussed on today’s episode. Frogman Mike Nelson is a longtime hero of mine

Will Clark

My only knowledge of Marineland as a kid came not from that Lucy Show episode, but from OUTTAKES from that Lucy Show episode that Lucy showed on a talk show, seen in a VHS collection we had that some company put together of every public domain clip they could find of Lucy.

Another connection between hillbilly nonsense and the Munsters is the band that played on The Munsters album included Glen Campbell and Leon Russell https://blog.musoscribe.com/index.php/2018/10/31/they-created-a-monster-the-story-of-the-munsters-1964-lp/

From the title alone I thought this was taking place at the Marineland theme park in Niagara Falls, Canada. No need to do an episode on it, as I’ve heard it’s kind of a “meh” park, but shoutout to its incredibly catchy jingles from its ads in the early 2000s, which still live rent-free in my brain two decades later.

Lauryn

Second on Ghosts.

Agustin Macias

(immediately adds a "want to go" pin in Google Maps for Nelson's in Palos Verdes)

Ryan Shyffer

500 comedy points.

Haley Kessler

Still mid-listen, so you guys might #own me by bringing it up later, but CBS' "Ghosts" might be the closest to what yall ate talking about in terms of a supernatural comedy on a standard television network

BewareTheGrayGhost

I’ve been playing in the pit for the current Broadway revival of Gypsy and I noticed that they pronounce it Vaud-e-ville in that show as well. In fact, it has been bugging me for weeks. Maybe that’s the correct pronunciation?

Pat S

Wasn’t expecting an episode today, it’s still January. Thanks for coming back early!

SeeAllenKelly

The aforementioned Chad and Jeremy were on a Batman episode where Catwoman stole their voices. Also, in the episode where Penguin runs for mayor, Paul Revere and the Raiders perform at his campaign headquarters
