Monster Mashes

After hearing Bobby "Boris" Pickett's "Monster Mash," most people hunger for more.

They want more monsters and more mashes.

On today's Hauntcast, we satisfy this universal craving by combing through an infinite amount of dumb songs about wolfmen and frankensteins cutting loose.

Monster Mashes

Slow clapping for Scott’s “Monster Trap” 😂

Casey Hoolahan

2022 had YOU MAKE ME FEEL LIKE ITS HALLOWEEN by MUSE and ALSO Scare Me by Ludo. Both are Halloween bangers

Charli Cramer

The best cover of Monster Mash is by “The Misfits” off their album “Project 1950”.

Excitemike 64

The manufactured consent of 60’s novelty dance songs is off the charts (no pun intended). Latest and greatest my butt! Cameo Parkway is particularly egregious but that RFK version of Wild Thing is gold.

Excitemike 64

Werewolf Barmitzvah is one of the greatest tv bits of all time

Libby

I am FURIOUS about the riboflavin flavored, non carbonated, polyunsaturated blood SLANDER on this episode!! That song goes hard!!! It has all the lore filled lyrics the boys were asking for all episode!

Mightykiko

Ya’ll are treasures.

Allie

There's a big joke in the new Ted T v show about how we've never actually heard the original monster mash, so they create it

Eric Hudson

Correction: Jason commenting on the hot temperature of Mike's old apartment was not shade ... it was a read. 😄 Also, Bobby "Boris" Pickett's "Monster Rap" lifts the chorus and melody of The Treacherous Three's "The Body Rock".

Killervirgo Coasters

Halloween '64 the year Halloween got a tad more sad.

Jake Alleruzzo

Here everyone. Have a Long Playlist of Halloween songs and other songs that are also spooky. Made this Playlist to play while driving my custom hearse https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPPXgkXE9z_wJtCN_flIO9iqNwfv4XiUb&si=KGYQwFOllRdSrDjl

Jordan Pfluger

Jason doing a Deadpool impression: "Till you're 90!"

Scott Mitchell

And of course This is Halloween and the Ghostbusters theme

Scott Mitchell

Came here to share the MONSTER WAP https://youtu.be/D-ZTAdmOLIg?si=StZtx9WZyAvvDUFr Also- I don’t think I’ve ever been more disappointed in Jason than when he parroted Karina Longworth’s negative opinion of Lon Chaney Jr

Justin W

Of all the “shock” artists of the 70s,80s and 90s, Alice Cooper has always been up front with the fact that he did it to sell records and wasn’t even remotely like that in real life. Which has always led to fun cameos in things like Wayne’s world and Staples commercials

Dan sulin

Werewolf Barmitzvah from 30 Rock belongs among the greats of Monster Mash parodies

Bryan Bindman

I would listen to a podcast that’s Lunch with Jason

Ann

The lack of Spooky Scary Skeletons being mentioned as a Halloween song I find upsetting

Jake Carey

Mega dittos

Philip Ehlke

I swear there’s a Kanye song that samples a Louis Prima novelty Christmas song

Daniel Salas

As for songs that sampled Monster Mash check out Limbo by Rush

Lobo

the “brrrt” had me cackling

Lobo

When they said: people are going to have to google all these names. I was all: yeah, no I own a lot of these artists records or at least listen to them on the regular

Lobo

This is the only reason to do this episode

Edegar

Discuss songs where people wail like werewolves but don't mention Werewolves of London. Big podcast fail.

PotatoBomb

sometimes i’m struck by how perfect this podcast is for me, i hope it goes on for 50 more years (sorry, scott)

Krystal Hooper

Monster Trap was brilliant and I’d like an entire album please sir. Also the mention of Fall Out Boy’s Uma Thurman reminds me of when that song came out and I was endlessly annoying to my friends telling them that no, the Munsters theme song was not the Pulp Fiction song nor does she dance to it in the movie.

Ben

And don’t forget one of Castlevania’s protagonist, Alucard. Who is Dracula’s son.

Dan sulin

“The monsters don’t live in castles!” If I may quote the text: “from my laboratory in the CASTLE east, to the master bedroom where the vampires feast”

torgo1985

Not one mention of Werewolf Bar Mitzvah?

Michael

The Walace and Ladmo show would be a great topic. It was a kids show with music, comedy skits and cartoons. They had a snarky kid hating clown and a bratty berries and cream looking character that would come out and insult all the middle class kids in the audience. They also had a tie in with Arizona’s answer to Disneyland, Legend City if you wanted to keep on theme

Lobo

Speaking of Alice Cooper being on kids shows. Here he is winning a greatly coveted Ladmo Bag on the Wallace and Ladmo Show https://youtu.be/5Wci4hQ9RK4?si=df9RqXs2ejanNmXl

Lobo

Please, let them have found the Transylvania Twist from Spookly the Square Pumpkin The existence of kids makes this more likely! There’s an episode of Roadster Racers where Gordon Ramsey is a main character and is helping them rework the Diner’s menu lmao

Hayley Penso

There are a few Son of Draculas, but the most notable is the one from 1973 starring Nilsson and Ringo Starr.

E.M. Allen

No joke, old man novelty rap was going to be my Club 3 suggestion for next month. Rappin Rodney and Joe Pesci’s Wise Guy are essentials in this genre. Also there is an obscure track from 1985 called “Monster Rapping” by Laylaw that is one of Dr Dre’s earliest productions. It’s the same type of rapping that Mike Love does on Summer of Love but in a Bobby Boris Picket voice

Rob Fitzgerald

Those monsters sucked and fucked!

Pretty Much It

Haven’t listened yet but if Wiger’s Monster Fuck isnt mentioned I’m gonna be a very unhappy customer!
