Football Shuffles (Scott’s Birthday Shot) (Second Gate)

Most people know "The Super Bowl Shuffle," a rap song performed by the 1985 Chicago Bears. But did you know that they weren't the only football team to record an original song? No? Well, Scott knew!

And now he's here to fill your ears with the pleasure of 80s beats and extremely stilted raps.

Happy Birthday Scott!

Comments

Started this episode wondering if this was why Scott made the sex offender shuffle (and if we were all aware of that fact)

Hayley Penso

It brings me immense joy to let people from my youth know that the person behind that married one of the girls in it and now talks about theme parks haha

Hayley Penso

Just got to this episode. Can’t* believe they didn’t mention the 7th Floor Crew by the University of Miami football team. * I can. It’s one of the filthiest and worst rap songs you’ll ever hear.

Brian Magill

Ram It sounds a lot like a song Jem and the Holograms would do

Sarah

Ram It sounds exactly like the intro to Macho Man by the Village People

AlsoNamedB0rt

For the LMFAO confusion, I’d guess Jason was thinking of Migos, a hip hop trio, which like LMFAO includes an uncle-nephew pairing and one of whom died in 2022

Jacque Porter

Can’t believe you forgot “Who Dey” the Cincinnati Bengals rap.

Amy Patrick

Uh huh, they (especially Mike) really need to retire the “we’re good boys who get uncomfortable talking/thinking about sex!!!” bit because it seems like they (especially Mike) go out of their way to talk about sex and dicks every episode now.

Abigail M

My high school musical theater director was a big Packers fan and he made his own shuffle and it is hilariously bad. https://youtu.be/6Pmozuz5L8M?si=ThfpEvQwOzQnZKFe

Burton Olivier

I remember watching the Sex Offender Shuffle when I was in middle school. I'm in my 30s now, how time flies.

Jake Alleruzzo

A new Patreon tier where we get access to Jason's medical charts and t-levels.

Nathan Walz

I’m at peace

Cameren Foley

finding out Scott made sex offender shuffle has changed my life what on earth

issa horcrux

…So when are we getting the PTR Shuffle?

Christina Lohr

"Ram It" sounds like Hot Sundae from Saved By The Bell

RvckMetal5Chic

I bought it was gonna be him based on Scott’s description but then I was bamboozled by the clip! Forgot his speaking voice is not the same as his singing voice!

Fiona

you guys…so much time speculating about bear penises and nobody thought that it could be a female bear

Krystal Hooper

Jason were you thinking of Smash Mouth lead singer who died ?

Eyal Shachar

I thought he was thinking of smash mouth

Eyal Shachar

“Ram It” is giving “Party All The Time” to me

Haley

2024 is all about pigeons and Tiny Tim

Taylor Rothbell

The realization Scott “did a Vertigo” right at the end was great!

Dean H Pritchett

Not technically a shuffle, but I'm surprised there wasn't even a mention of the WrestleRock Rumble. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLDd9L36tnM

Jacob

oh my god did the mcgruff double entendre stuff destroy me. thank you so much

John Rhoads

All three hosts are *very* comfortable with sexuality 😤 I recall several mentions of Mike’s “ruined pops” on the main feed mere days ago!

Don Bell

i hope there's a new benefit for club 33 members, who get to pick what you do the show about on THEIR birthdays.

alatina thucklemuggin

I figured he was talking about Takeoff of the Migos

Scott Mitchell

Also, Jason was 100% thinking of Milli Vanilli as opposed to LMAFO. 😂

Natania DiNatale

“Ram It” is very much like “Hot Drinks”.

Natania DiNatale

Would highly recommend The Grabowski Shuffle, Mike Ditka’s confusing attempt to make his own Shuffle not based on football but based on a name he made up, Grabowski. Comes with a making-of documentary https://youtu.be/atT4taGBuSk?si=plrh_z-en46cQpMg

BansheeNeet

Not a Shuffle but you could call it a rap song. Green Bay Packers player Robert Brooks sang “Jump in the Stands” in 1996 and it’s definitely worth a listen!

Amalia

I think I played a Bruno Mars song all but 1 year of college marching band. My senior year (2015) they commissioned an arrangement of Uptown Funk which was SHOCKINGLY recent. Will confirm in a couple weeks if they’re still playing it 😂

Cayley

I went to look up the final shuffle mentioned in this and MULTIPLE comments were just quoting the Sex Offender Shuffle.

David Ganssle

Even though it’s not a rap, I feel like I should mention the cultural prevalence of the Buffalo Bills’ “Shout” song. Proof that you can change one (1) word in a preexisting song and make it your team’s anthem (“The Bills make me wanna shout!”). If you live anywhere in Western New York it’s practically inescapable.

Lauryn

Curious if Mike Ditka's attempt to cash in with "The Grabowski Shuffle" is mentioned. Main reason that was made was to make money where the Super Bowl Shuffle was a charity endeavor.

Michael Jacobson

Really hope Jane hears this episode lmaoooo

Miguel Sandoval

This is only barely related, but after listening to this I had to go re-watch the Dean's Payday Rap from Community, and if anyone here hasn't seen it, please treat yourself.

Haley Kessler

Yep! Same one! 🤯

Tony Bataska

Whoa it's the same Buddy!

Podcast The Ride

My partner is a high school band teacher and one of their halftime songs this season is Texas Hold 'Em, so guess it just depends on how in or out of touch the directors are.

Lindy B

Buddy Ryan was the defensive coordinator of the 85 Bears and the head coach of the 88 Eagles. Mentioned in both songs!

Tony Bataska

“…and I’ll play it like Mingus”?

Philip E.

a david foster episode means we get to talk about the tubes>todd rundgren, just saying

Kendal Mintcake

A piece of the puzzle: “Let's Have Another Cup of Coffee” was sung in the “I Love Lucy” episode “Ricky’s Hawaiian Vacation”.

Excitemike 64

So I watched the Sex Offender shuffle when I was probably 12/13 (I am 24 now). I quote it semi regularly but have not gone back to the video since I became a fan of the podcast in 2018. I am pure shock and awe that I am just finding out it was made by Scott.

Jake Carey

Scott, I can speak to you. “Little Deuce Coupe” is absolutely a shuffle. Think of Brian Wilson, and maybe Roger Christian if you want, then think of 80-something Mike Love singing it, and playing sax, as hard as you can.

Matthew Comegys

I know a certain young person will love this, his name is Angus.

Agustin Macias

It's soccer not football but in UK John Barnes is a legend in this genre.

Stacey P

I guessed Tiny Tim from “60s talk show weirdo” - where’s my prize 🏆??

dystopika

Scott’s description of “a party where everyone gives a funny presentation” ironically captures the essence of this podcast, imo

Daniel Salas

I don’t want to intimate that Jason can’t write his own rap, but I thought I could help, or maybe get the creative(?) juices flowing with these bars: I ain’t gonna tease with a little lick, I’mma f* you hard with my mouth d*ck. Don’t care if it’s smooth or if it’s hairy (yeah!) I’mma p0wn that cl*t/brown/taint-area If you’re stuck, Jason, I offer that to you free of charge… just give me a writing credit.

Mireille C

My kids are in the high school marching band. This year’s football halftime show will be a tribute to AC/DC. So, you know, the current stuff that young people like…..

Shane Griest

I haven’t even pressed play yet, but please lord may they talk about the 1985-86 season Los Angeles Rams classic, “let’s Ram it”….

Cameren Foley

I’ve never heard of the Super Bowl Shuffle. Is it anything like the Sex Offender Shuffle?
