Detox Sunday

Yesterday, I had a media-free Sunday. So no phone, no TV, no social media... It felt so good, and kind of like a detox. I tend to doomscroll, I check my emails, Instagram, and Patreon every few minutes - especially when I've posted something. I get frustrated when people seem to not see my posts or if they don't interact with them. I compare myself with others. I spend way too much time with mobile games. I don't go outside often enough and - most importantly - I don't allow my mind to rest because I'm constantly bombarding it with information. It makes me worry constantly, and it gives me a headache. Still, I usually don't stop. My first, and more often than not last, glance is on the display of my phone, and when I close my eyes I'm already thinking about what to post tomorrow while at the same time doubting myself. It is exhausting. And that is why yesterday felt so liberating. I think I'm going to do that once a week from now on - just leaving my phone where it is and doing things that really bring me joy and relaxation.

How about you? Are you struggling with listening to your body as well? Is it easy for you to put your phone aside and not compare yourself to others?

Yeah, night mode is really helpful. I don’t know what it is but I think I’m really addicted to my phone - even if I hate to admit it. Not sure if it is my ADHD brain that needs constant stimulation. For me, it’s really easier to go a whole day without my phone than trying to minimise my usage throughout the day. And yes, I agree on what you’ve said in regards to games πŸ˜‚

As for the phone: I always leave it in silent mode (vibration on), and make exceptions only for the really important contacts. So I don't get nervous when I'm doing something as soon as the phone makes a noise. I recently found out that my phone supports night mode - completely silent, also very helpful. Games? It's easier not to start, than to stop πŸ˜…

It might not work for everyone, but I found it really relaxing!
