Alan & Jono's Watching/Reading List: July 2025

Alan:

Hello Heroes!

July was a crazy month for me. Lots of family trips (reunions and whatnot) along with the usual stuff like writing a movie. Still managed to read and watch some stuff though!

What I’m reading!

What I’m watching!

What I’m playing!

Watch Movies! (And television, and read books, and play video games)

Jono:

Hi everyone! Jonathan here, in the middle of a cross-country move. So forgive me for being short and sweet this time. Great month for movies!

Jurassic World: Rebirth had a mediocre script and weak characters but was saved by excellent actors and Gareth Edwards directing the hell out of the action and suspense.

Superman was everything I hoped it would be as well as so many things I didn't know I needed. Probably my favorite movie of the year so far. I cannot wait to do an episode on this.

Fantastic Four is another episode waiting to happen! The cast is great, but Vanessa Kirby steals the movie. Powerful and wholesome family dynamics anchor a really fun Marvel movie.

Right now I'm reading Uncle Tom's Cabin, which had such a huge influence on the abolitionist movement of the 1800s. I've heard about it my whole life, but this is my first time reading it. Very profound.

What about you all? What are you watching and reading this month?

I think the issue with rouge one was that the had a great idea great acting with great characters but forced it all into a movie runtime. That why some part feel unearned or rushed andor the show had some room to breath. It make me wonder what rouge one would have been like if it got to be a 3 episode arch. Know that when it came out a live action Starwars tv show was a crazy idea and it had to be movie. And I love the movie, But how good Andor was makes me think about all the possibilities that could have been for the story.

I'm the most obnoxious breed of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy fan who will tell you that you really need to listen to the radio show!

Recent movies I've watched are Superman, Fantastic Four, and Together. Together was a brilliant and terrifying horror movie. Also really liked Superman. My boyfriend and I have K-Pop Demon Hunters on our to-watch list. Been reading through the 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' series. It's a wild trip.

I've been on a big CCR binge since watching the Trainwrecords episode on their final album. I read both the unauthorized history of the band and John Fogerty's memoir 😅 And, of course, listening to their music.
