Yes I did hate him at first !! I hated their relationship circumstances haha even tho I kinda liked him by the end of it

IcedQuokka

Honestly after what you thought of the Elizabeth/Ross relationship and the whole age gap thing, I would've thought you would have already "hated" Richard seeing as he had know Monica since she was a child. There's even the chance that he babysat her at some point

Curtis Murphy

Phoebe is the oldest, Ross is second.

I'm so excited to see you talk about/watch season 7! I think season 6 has a lot of 'one off' episodes and the Elizabeth thing drags out really long. I think it wasn't until this episode that I realized properly that Ross being the oldest of the group dating someone so much younger is what makes it weird. That's probably why we didn't see much of Ben (or Carol/Susan!) this season bc it would hammer home how weird that was (realistically if Elizabeth is 20 she's only 15 years or so older than Ross's child!!)

Yeah the only sensitive guy part I can think of is phoebe picking between the 2 guys There’s so many iconic moments it’s hard to keep track of! It’s so funny when Rachel is talking to the guy about buying the boat ‘’the wind in your ha…arms when she notices he doesn’t have hair 🤣 I hadn’t picked up on it before but in another reaction the part where Joey’s like ‘’where are all the tissues!?’’ Is so funny because Bruce Willis´ character had used them all up while venting. I love subtle things like that. I love these episodes so much I don’t think Richard’s a bad guy he was shooting his shot and when he found out how serious chandler was he backed off. Even told him to go after her. That’s commendable to be Lmfao Richard’s shriveled up part had my dying 🤣 I love the ‘’ you had your chance with her you had your chance with her and you blew it! This is my chance and I’m not gonna blow it because we are meant for eachother’’ 😭💖 I’m also so happy that nothing happened between them some people really hate Monica because she called Richard’s name when they were at the restaurant to say hi. I never got that because I don’t see it as a huge thing other characters have done much worse. Joey likely told her and then she planned it. I think she felt bad for him that he had something special planned and that it totally got ruined so she wanted to do something special Phoebe and Ross now that’s interesting. I love this finale so much I’m surprised you like the Vegas one more! It’s ok but this one despite the suspense the ending was so worth it.

Raquel

He loves them so much so he had to actually out his back into the performance 😭😭😭 seriously one of the bestest friends you can have i love Joey

IcedQuokka

Joey is an actor. And he's famously a BAD actor. All throughout the show there are jokes about how bad of an actor he is, even though he keeps trying to make it big. And yet, in this one moment that mattered, he gave the performance of his life that fooled Chandler as well as fooled the audience, proving he absolutely CAN be a good actor... but more importantly, proving how much he loves Chandler and Monica and what he'll do for them, including being the best actor he could ever be so they could have their surprising romantic moment. He just needs the motivation, and his love for his friends is all he needs.

Season 2's didn't either, I believe, but yeah, so far these are the only two.

Also, I think this is the first Friends finale that doesn't have anything to do with the whole Ross and Rachel relationship.

Chris

Ooo maybe!! I think i might be confusing a couple story lines together idk 😩

IcedQuokka

Are you talking about fun Bobby when he stopped drinking? The Monica’s bf thing you’re talking about?

SidekickSteph

Nooo i like your analysis !!! I think those types of love are always the best because it makes you into a better person, that’s what love should be!! But with Richard i feel like they never changed each other so i can’t see them together even tho he’s offering her what she wants!! She truely loves chandler and loves how he’s changed her so i think that’s why she got so distraught and confused because she didn’t want to be with anyone but him 😭😭😭

IcedQuokka

Ahhh so many good ones can’t believe i forgot them 😭😭 loved the pottery barn one that was hilarious 😩 maybe that’s why i forgot tho because there was barely a single story line lol 😅

IcedQuokka

Yeah but he did that after messing with both of their heads so he’s in my bad book now 😂 he’s a great actor tho don’t get me wrong!!

IcedQuokka

I always rewatch these proposal episodes from Monica's POV now, and I imagine how confused, hurt, and angry she'd be because Chandler's plan makes her feel like the rug was pulled out from under her. Another guy who isn't on the same page and doesn't want to marry her. So now, I like the Richard stuff as sort of a "last temptation of Monica" because he is her image of the perfect guy. He mature, passionate about his work, acts like a "grown up". And they've never had any conflict when they dated besides the no kids thing. And now he's offering her the stuff she wants. With Chandler it's messier. They have fights. They have disagreements about all the small stuff. He's not perfect and he forces her to compromise, but she chooses Chandler over Richard despite that because it's a more rewarding relationship and a deeper kind of love. I'm definitely over analyzing it. I also love the face Rachel makes when Joey and Ross both say they want to switch to her as their back-up. That satisfied smug almost evil smile is perfection! Let's hope season 7 doesn't have and moments that make you hate Ross again!

Chris

RIP Ross and Elizabeth... You were the best relationship ever on Friends. No one can deny that.

Reminders: Unagi, The What if Episode, Reece Witherspoon, Rachel's disgusting trifle, Joey's hot roommate, all mid season. Ross' Teeth, The Routine, The Pottery Barn product placement episode, Rachel and Phoebe living together. For thoughts sharing! Though I think you fogetting says something about season 6! The mid season was basically just a string of funny filler episodes with the only real storie slasting multiple episodes being Joey having a crush on his bad actress roommate, and Rachel's sister/Ross/Rachel drama.

Calum

I think Richard is a good guy. When he found out how serious Chandler was, he backed off and told Chandler to go get her, and, if he does get her, never let her go. If this is the last time we see Richard, I think it's a good send off for his character. Maybe I'm biased, because I love Tom Selleck. He was Magnum PI in the 80s, when I was a kid. My mother and I loved that show. She was in love with him more than the show, TBH, and I lost her in 1989.
