The flat of this glaive is decorated with intricate gold engravings. Its blade is silvered, and its hilt and pommel are set with dazzling, perfectly cut emeralds. Its steel pole is plated with gold and lined with rings of inset diamonds. You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. When you hit a creature with a successful weapon attack, you can choose to subject it to the effects of the heat metal spell. The DC for these effects is 16. Once you use the glaive for these effects, you cannot do so again until the next dawn.

Six of these glaives existed a near millennia ago, each wielded by the six members of Sermiva’s personal guard. The members of his gilded guard were among the fiercest warriors of the southern continents and served for 10-year appointments before being granted impossibly luxurious retirements.
