Issue #32: The Port Report – March/April 2018
Added 2018-02-19 13:05:35 +0000 UTCOne of the factors fueling the incredible success of Nintendo's Switch is that the system has become a magnet for ports from past platforms. There's just something about the combo console & handheld hardware that makes everyone want to play every game ever made on it, and developers are only too happy to keep pulling great games out of the shadows of yesteryear and re-releasing them in Switch form! We've seen tons of these releases already, and even more are heading our way through the rest of 2018 – like the epic Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, which gathers *12* different iterations of the famous fighting franchise together into a single package!
We take an in-depth look at it, evaluate more modern ports to the Switch like DOOM and Bayonetta 2, and then report on even more ports, like Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition and Dark Souls: Remastered!
(Of course, a few original works are thrown in too, just to help us all remember that not everything new on the Switch is actually old.)
Digital subscribers, the PDF edition of this latest issue will be hitting your email inboxes within the next 24 hours, so keep your eyes peeled there.
The Magzter version for tablets, eReaders and the like will follow a little later this week.
And the print edition is already in production as of last Friday and will be mailed to all our print subscribers this week! It should arrive to most mailboxes by early to mid-March. International shipping takes a little longer, so thanks for your patience if you're living outside the United States!

2018-04-17 15:26:21 +0000 UTCHi, I was having issues with my print subscription. I had posted above and yes, I did hear a reply from NF Magazine. Did you try direct messaging them through Patreon? That’s what I did and they replied two days after I sent my message. However, my problem wasn’t fixed as I still haven’t received any issues. They said they’d send a replacement which I also have not received D: My particular issue has to do with me moving recently... so.... idk what’s going on but, I really hope it works out soon. I’ve been a print subscriber for years prior to this happening and never had a problem with not receiving issues on time. So I’ve also never had issues with trying to contact them and not hearing back. I’m wondering if there are more people than usual who haven’t recieved their issues? Or if this amount is normal? Because it seems like there are quite a Few of us who haven’t received what we paid for ):

I posted a while back and never got a response so i removed my pledge. I figured maybe they were just overwhelmed with people asking that it took a while or something. I have since re applied my pledge and I am going to hope that the may/june issue ships to my home without delays. I also just placed a order on the store to get all the back issues in print that they have. I left a note with my order about how i tried to contact someone before in regards to if they will offer the rest of the back issues in print on the store anytime soon? I didnt get a response last time, but im hopeful after just placing a 60 dollar order on the store someone has to see my question? if someone from the magazine happens to read this post please let me know and others how we can go about contacting you for any support issues? I think that a better way must exist than just posting here hoping someone from the magazine will respond or read it. fingers crossed that my order will ship out soon and that all those who were waiting on responses to simple questions get some sort of reply.

I did not receive the latest issue and that doesn't seem right because I signed on a good 10 days before the cut off date for shipping. This really sucks as I was looking forward to the magazine so much, and I definitely still want to catch the next ones (and this current one). So please contact me ASAP about this in case there was any issue with my details or if there is an error as to why I did not receive my copy. I also did not receive the digital email either. Thanks.

2018-03-11 04:27:21 +0000 UTCI just heard about this magazine from a limited run games newsletter email. I kinda wish I found out about this from the start in order to have all the back issues. If there is a way I can get them please let me know? I have never supported anything before on patreon. I usually do crowdfunded projects, but I really do miss having a solid nintendo or gaming based magazine each month. I know things are set to every 2 months a issue. I wonder if the creators are open to making it monthly. Things move so quickly in technology, gaming history, and many other areas. I really hope that if you reach a higher level of funding that you would consider coming out with a monthly issue. I would be happy with a mix of current articles and content and some history as well. Anyways i signed up for the print and digital level, but if you went monthly I would change it to a double print combo. Anyways I look forward to getting my first issue.

Which is interesting because that's one of my biggest criticisms about the system, too many ports (and worse sub-standard ports) Wii U to Switch being the biggest offenders. I know they need content and where better than to mine from an older system that not many owned, fair enough. But to someone like me who supported the Wii U I get frustrated over the lack of new content in favor of retreads from other systems on the Switch. It is my hope that going forward 2019- that this becomes less of a trend and we see more original fare instead of a 20 year old arcade port and inferior ports best left on other systems more capable, but that's just me (since I know I'm in the minority of Switch owners). On a slightly different note, I was really disappointed in the Switch version of Lost Sphear played it for 10 mins before I got motion sick because of the low framerate, had to go and buy the PS4 version and have thoroughly enjoyed it since. Just another reason why all Switch ports aren't all that and a bag of chips. /off soapbox
