Hey there, Force fans! First up, sorry for taking so long to make this post. I'd intended to choose and announce the winner of our SNES Classic Giveaway in November, and then November ended up being a real whirlwind of un-fun things going on with my family, and it skipped my mind for a while. My apologies.
So now, officially, the winner of the SNES Classic that's been sitting here by my desk is . . .
Nick Beierle!
Congratulations Nick, as the random number generator has graciously chosen you. I'll contact you with further information about delivering your prize.
Next up! Since I've got you guys here, I wanted to address any concerns you may have about Patreon's new fee announcement. Trust me when I say that I'm not pleased about it, and I've already reached out to multiple staff members in the Patreon office to express that displeasure. Since there's such a huge consensus of creators who are against this change, I'm hopeful the collective pressure will cause them to realize their mistake and reverse course on this decision.
But if they don't, and the new fee stands, here's some things to know:
1. The new fee will not be charged on your next NF issue payment. The change is scheduled to take effect on December 18, but we're publishing our next issue on December 17, so it'll be totally business as usual.
2. If Patreon does not cancel this new fee by the time we're ready to publish the following issue in February, we'll add more content to our issues and more incentives to continue your support for the Force. More posters more frequently. More giveaways more regularly, with more winners. Extra digital back issues sent alongside new editions when they're published โ we were planning that already as a stretch goal, but we'll just go ahead and do it as a thank-you for everyone's continued support here.
And let me tell you, you guys don't want to go anywhere. We are fully entering in to the greatest generation Nintendo has had in a long, long time, and stepping into 2018 with the Switch moving at full steam is going to be incredible. My mind is already swirling with awesome ideas for issues we'll get to put together in the near future, covering Mega Man 11, Metroid Prime 4, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch . . . 2017 has been insane, but it's only the beginning!
And please continue to share your ideas and feedback with us. What should be our next giveaway? What kind of content are you personally hoping to see in one of our upcoming issues? Our 5-Year Anniversary is coming up in just a few more weeks, and we're thrilled to mark that milestone with all of you!
