Issue #25: Farewell Wii U, Hello Switch! – January/February 2017

Our milestone 25th issue is complete!

As 2016 comes to an end and 2017 is ushered in, Nintendo is in a time of transition. The Wii U is done – its time in the spotlight is over. And the all-new Nintendo Switch is mere months away!

Here in this in-between time, we've taken the opportunity to look back and reflect on the entirety of the Wii U era. But it's not a simple walk down memory lane, because strong rumors suggest that many of Wii U's biggest hits will be making encore appearances on Switch! Whether they're presented as ports, sequels, "director's cuts" or whatever else, brands like Mario Kart, Splatoon, Super Smash Bros. and more look poised to build on the foundations of their Wii U editions and add even more content for Switch.

Of course, the one game that we know for sure is going to appear on both systems is the game we selected to appear on the cover this time. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild gets an all-new preview, supporting coverage in our Retro section and is the subject of both sides of our doubled-sided, packed-in wall poster! (You'll get to pick to display either Horse Rider Link or Rock Climber Link.)

And our featured Interview this time is with André Segers of GameXplain, who nearly lost his mind earlier this year as he worked for months to prepare his epic, crazily in-depth *two-hour* analysis video pouring over all of the footage of Breath of the Wild recorded at E3 2016. (GameXplain is also on Patreon at Patreon.com/GameXplain, so give their page your patronage too if you're a fan of their video work!)

All that and more are in store for you in our 25th issue!

Digital subscribers, keep an eye on your email for the link to download the PDF version this weekend. The Magzter version will follow along a few days later.

Print subscribers, the issue's in production at our printing company now and will get into the mail to you within the next week. It should arrive in most of your mailboxes by early January!

Thank you all for your continued support of The Nintendo Force and NF Magazine! I hope you all have a wonderfully happy holiday season and get to spend time with friends and family. Or, failing that, at least get to spend some time playing some new Nintendo games!

~ Lucas M. Thomas

P.S. The December Giveaway we were planning was going to be a crossover thing with GameXplain, but it looks like that might need to be pushed back a bit because André and his team have been super busy. If we do end up needing to delay that, I'll come up with a different giveaway to run before the end of the year! Stay tuned. :)

Issue #25: Farewell Wii U, Hello Switch! – January/February 2017

Comments

I ordered this issue individually over a month ago, and I still haven't gotten it. What's the deal?

I still have not received my issue yet

Still havnt got this :(

As of February 1st 2017 I still haven't received my physical copy via mail yet...

Claire McMaster

I haven't got this issue yet.

I still havnt got this yet!!!

II've pledged $3 for the current issue.. don't know if I'll get it :/

I just pledged $5 today, does that mean I'll get the current issue, or will my first issue be the next one?

somari1996

Just got my issue today and again it was great. I love the farewell to the Wii u. The Wii U is a great console and my personal favorite this gen because the PS4 and Xbox one are just garbage.

Why? Nintendo has consistently and repeatedly confirmed that BotW will be a Wii U title.

If payment is pending on patreon does that mean you haven't gotten around to mailing yet or should I contact the site?

I have my doubts about this game actually releasing on the Wii U

IM IN IT YAY!

I can't wait!

I've just started subscribing to the physical issues from the UK. We may not have had Nintendo Power, but we did have the Official Nintendo Magazine. When that stopped, it was gutting to no longer have a Nintendo mag to read, so thanks for this. 😉

Awesome!I love gameXplain

Happy to have you on board, David!

The Nintendo Force

I just subscribed to this (physical issues). Very excited!!!

No renewals needed any more! That was only when we were only Kickstarter and going year by year. Everyone's subscriptions will just carry on as normal here on Patreon without need for a big renewal campaign or anything like that.

The Nintendo Force

Sorry for the wait, Samuel! Now that this issue's done, I've got time to get caught up on mailing. :)

The Nintendo Force

I still haven't received Issue #24, and I've been very patient.

Can't wait for it! But quick question: When do we have to renew our subscriptions? I remember after either the last issue of 2015 or after the first issue of 2016, everyone had to order a new subscription.

Nice! I was just about to listen to the new Realtalk Podcast episode!

Looking forward to this issue. Thanks for making this great magazine!
