2016 Game of the Year Award Nominations + November Giveaway Winner!

Greetings once again, Nintendo Force faithful! It's the first Monday of a new month, so it's time to check in with you all once again.

Work on our all-new Issue #25 with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the cover is quickly coming to an end, and the plan is to have it wrapped up by a week from Friday. One piece of the puzzle we still need to address, though, is the pages dedicated to our 2016 Game of the Year awards!

Nominations are now open! Please post a reply in the Comments box below to let us know which nominees you suggest for each of the following categories:

 =============================

- Best Graphics

- Best Sound

- Best Player vs. Player (a.k.a. Best Multiplayer)

- Best Challenge

- Best Ending

- Best Play Control

- Best Theme & Fun

- Best Character (or Characters)

- 3DS eShop Game of the Year

- Wii U eShop Game of the Year

- 3DS Retail Game of the Year

- Wii U Retail Game of the Year

- Overall 2016 Game of the Year

=============================

You don't have to submit nominees for all of them if you don't want to. Just the ones you care most strongly about is fine!

After we've got a good group of nominees for each category, I'll post a follow-up blog here on Patreon to present them all together and ask for everyone's votes. Your votes will then help us pick our winners, and the winners will be announced within Issue #25!

Speaking of winners, we need to reveal who among you was chosen by fate to be the recipient of our November Giveaway prize: the extra NES Classic Edition sitting here on my desk. The lucky winner is . . .

Barry Rokoff!

Congrats, Barry! If you struck out trying to grab one on Black Friday, the NF team is helping you out. It's heading your way, so keep an eye on your mailbox!

We do have another giveaway planned for this month, but we're still ironing out a detail or two regarding it, so please have patience and wait for a new announcement on that soon. In the meanwhile, let's hear those award nominations!

As always, thank you to you all for your continued support!

~ Lucas M. Thomas

P.S. On the $12K goal being hit recently: Thank you all! We will adjust the tier prices down as promised if we can manage to stay above that goal level when we flip into January. That's because the support level tends to dip down every two months when credit cards are charged and some patrons' payments are declined. When we know we're good to stay above the goal level for the long haul, then we'll make the price edits. It will just be a few pennies knocked off at first, remember! But if we keep on growing as we have, we'll be able to lower the tiers even further in the future!

2016 Game of the Year Award Nominations + November Giveaway Winner!

- Best Graphics: Paper Mario: Color Splash (Okay, I know this wasn't super well received, but you gotta say, the graphics are amazin'!) - Best Sound: Fire Emblem Fates (Love the soundtrack) - Best Challenge: Monster Hunter: Generations - Best Ending: Kirby: Planet Robobot - Best Play Control: Super Mario Maker 3DS (Love that integration of the touchscreen!) - Best Character: Takumi (Probably one of my favorite FE characters...) - 3DS eShop Game of the Year: Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 - 3DS Retail Game of the Year: Monster Hunter: Generations - Wii U Retail Game of the Year: I guess Twilight Princess HD? (I know it's a port, but it's really the only new one I got this year.) - Overall Game of the Year: A close tie between Fire Emblem Fates (That Revelation path tho) and Monster Hunter: Generations. Fire Emblem gets it for story, and Monster Hunter for gameplay. And as I final thought, I already have my game picked out for the Game of the Year next year... And it's on the cover of #25 :D

Best Graphics: Shantae Half Genie Hero, Best Sound: Pokemon Sun and Moon, Best PVP: Pokken Tournament, Best Challenge: Shantae and the Pirates Curse, Best Ending: The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess for WiiU, Best Play Control Shantae and the Pirates Curse, Best Theme and Fun: Pokemon Sun and Moon, Best Character: Nebby from Pokemon Sun and Moon, Best 3DS eshop Game of the Year: Phoenix Wright Spirit of Justice, WiiU eShop Game of the year: Earthbound, 3DS retail Game of the Year: Pokemon Sun and Moon, WiiU Retail game of the year: Shantae Half Genie Hero, Overall 2016 Game of the Year: Shantae Half Genie Hero

- Best Graphics: While not released at time of writting, Shantea 4 looks to be the best looking game of the year... that I'll play. Ugh... I feel like Geoff Keighly, giving awards to stuff that hasn't earned it yet. - Best Sound: Tadpole Treble - Best Player vs. Player (a.k.a. Best Multiplayer): Runbow Deluxe - Best Challenge: Fire Emblem Fates - Best Ending: Kirby Planet Robobot - Best Play Control: Star Fox Guard - Best Theme & Fun: Style Savvy 3: Fashion Forward - Best Character (or Characters): Ophelia and Odin (Fire Emblem Fates) - 3DS eShop Game of the Year: I hate this category because all the best strictly eShop games got physical releases in other territories. As a man whoe lives in constant denile, I say Swapdoodle for now, though. - Wii U eShop Game of the Year: Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee – New 'n' Tasty! - 3DS Retail Game of the Year: In a perfect world, Rythym Heaven 4. But since I live in this one, Style Savvy 3: Fashion Forward. - Wii U Retail Game of the Year: Shantea 4, again. My Wii U was in backlog mode most of the year. Runbow crashed once, so it's out of the running, and while both Star Fox's were interesting, Guard was clearly superior but's experimental nature means that scheme needs another pass to be truly exemplary. Really, though, Xseed is just the best when it comes to retail releases. They give you so many extra goodies! - Overall 2016 Game of the Year: Kirby: Planet Robobot.

I would like to nominate Best Graphics to Paper Mario Color Splash! This is one of the most beautiful and creative looking games I've ever seen! Everything in this world looks amazing with cardboard floors or clouds held up by string in the sky! It's incredible what Nintendo was able to do with this art style in HD! Noah Goodman

I would like to nominate Pokemon Sun and Moon for Best Ending. SPOILERS AHEAD: The champion was the best surprise I have ever gotten in a Pokemon game. And the very end, when Lillie is leaving forever, made me want to jump in the ocean and swim after her! Hau and her were great companions to travel Alola with, and her farewell made me genuinely sad. I'm also so jealous that she gets to go to Kanto. I really want a Kanto sequel (after the Sinnoh remakes, of course)
